2017 front door speaker wire colors

In the week since I have received the speaker, adapters and wire harness from Crutchfield, I have missed placed the wire harness, so I’m going to have to splice in the speaker wires. The connector has a blue and a white wire. Which one is positive and which one is negative?

For the door, Left: Dark Green Positive, Light Green Negative Right Grey Positive, Blue Negative.

That's the RH door. Each door is a different color.

Grey positive, blue negative.

this is a bad idea. drop by the local car audio shop and buy the $15 harness. chalk it up to experience.

 

So a properly soldered and heat shrinked connection is less desirable than a Chinese made mechanical one? I call BS on that one slick.

besides the “local” car audio shop is 60 miles away.

 

most people that cut harnesses aren't soldering and heatshrinking. they're using masking tape or wire nuts.

 

Whatever filter this is, I hope it stays.

it's different. it tends to butcher some of the technical stuff incorrectly.

 

Hey thanks for the advice earlier today, all y'all, even @soundman98 for assuming that I'm not a former electronic tech who spent years on a bench with a solder station.

I installed the Kicker speakers front and rear today, and swapped the tweeters for the Subaru set. It turned a mushy/crappy stock system into something not too bad. The new speakers are much more articulate that the factory ones.

Start to finish it took around 2.5 hours, including 20 minutes looking for the misplaced harness.

In order of crappiest to preferred:

twisted wires with masking tape
chinese mechanical harness free from Crutchfield
properly crimped butt splices
soldered and heat shrinked

assuming all done "properly"

 

we've all got a past! though the one's that know how to wield an iron are usually vastly outnumbered by the one's that don't even know what heatshrink is!

though, there is some strong debate in the industry that crimping produces a better mechanical connection that allows for greater long term flexibility than soldering offers.

 

ha yes... I've been to wire wrap school and used to punch in to terminal blocks.

I have no scientific data but it seems to me that there's some kind of chemical/physical type bond with solder.

But I'm not going to argue either way; perfect is the enemy of well done or something like that.
