EDIT--this isn't a loaded question, is it? (Meaning you've expected my answer but have a different angle of approach)

EDIT#2--I see you were using my photo for reference. (Disregard my ?)

It's under the driver's side backseat compartment. Here's a side-by-side of the 2 caps in question:

I haven’t noticed the doors causing a change but it could, I usually have the power turned off when I open the doors though.

Where did you get yours? I want it!

    It’s a sobriety meter!o_O

No, really, if you know your elevation, and you have a topographic map, you can find exactly where you are when you’re off-Roading or hiking. All you have to do is look at where the contour lines cross your trail at a specific elevation and you can pinpoint it.

you can do the same with a compass by triangulation, but that doesn’t work so well at night or if you’re in a deep forest or in a canyon and can’t see the horizon.

You need to find a garage sale run by the surviving wife of an old pilot that died and left behind the pulled analog devices when
he converted his plane to digital. :)
In case you are a pilot: I got a dual navcomm and VOR and ALT and ancient GPS for $5 each. Calibrations expired but all worked just fine.
I built a box, with rabbit ears and gps antenna, to hold them for a base unit since I can get a couple VOR signals and comm from atc/twr/gnd at class D and C towers and several non-towered airports. I used to take it on camping trips as well.
I don't use the box anymore so i repurposed the alt to the taco. A small piece of foam secures it in the holder.
I know my exact elevation so I set it before leaving garage.
btw: box now not needed since there are several streaming airport comm sites. we're talking decades ago.

I programmed in known elevation points so I can simply push the exposed buttons to do it depending on where I’m at. My driveway just needs one tap and it’s set.
