    What’s up,

I’ve looked everywhere online. I’m doing an axle swap from an e locker axle to an 2012 open diff with external lsd and adding an ARB. I already bought a 2012 axle today and going to buy the ARB and everything else this week… I really didn’t like the e locker and something was causing my diff to go out after 3 rebuilds…

Anyway, is it me? Or are there no axle truss available for the 2nd gen rear axles? I want to beef up my new axle as much as possible and I can’t seem to find many options... I’ve only seen one, but I didn’t like it. If you know if any 2nd gen axle trusses please post it below. Would love to take a look at them and buy it.

For those that want to talk smack on me swapping from an e locker to an open diff with ARB… I don’t mall crawl. I am on dirt and mud every day… I live on a ranch and actually use and abuse my truck more in a year than most ever will in their lifetime. I push my truck to its limits every week…. The E locker definitely has issues compared to the open diff with ARB…. Looking forward to having a locker with the external LSD.

    Thanks!

Never able to figure out the problem for the differential failures?

Axle trusses are so simple to make so a market never really developed.

Then to weld the truss to the axle housing it needs removed and stripped to weld it on correct !! Then you need to know what your doing to not ruin the axle housing.

Unless it is for show and not function!! Another thing some would feel it adds to ground clearance so it would be thought of as evil.

I am sure you have an idea what you want draw it up Many Fabricators in your part of the world.

    Good luck with this differential

    Too many to remember
You must not be wheeling that hard then because if you “push your truck to the limit” every week you will constantly be blowing up 3rd members. Sounds like you need a 9”

How do you define " push my truck to the limit" ??

A repair budget of $3000.00 a month for major failures?

I am kinda looking forward to see a locker with external LSD. ( typo did you mean internal)

I am not sure if electric or air operated is better.

It sounds to me like the backlash wasn’t set up correct or perhaps the pinion depth too shallow. The 8.4” certainly is a bit stronger with the bearing girdles, but that is certainly not a strong axle for the size of these trucks by any means, still an 8” ring gear differential the same size that was on an early 1980s Toyota that weighed half as much as todays trucks and had 1/3 of the HP. get yourself a Dana 60 or a 14 bolt, plenty of off the shelf trusses made for them as well.
