Tired of Winter

 

Athena’s birthday today!

 

Sadly, on March 18th I had to put down my companion Lola.

She was an absolutely amazing dog, and it’s almost exhausting and excruciating trying to come close to describing her.

I was her papa from birth, given to me by a deer friend, and from 7 weeks to just a couple of weeks ago I spent almost every day with her.

She was adored and led a fun and adventurous life, seeing many, many miles from the backseat of my 99 Tacoma.

She was multitalented as a great upland dog, could catch frisbees, loved her playground parkour, was strong swimmer, had a nonstop motor, and was absolutely fearless.

She would follow me anywhere, whether up the side of a mountain or down a river.

She leaves a huge void in my life, but she was given as much as I could in the way of love, care, and fun. It made the decision to put her down incredibly difficult, since she still looked to me to be a puppy with a sparkle in her eyes until the day she died. I told her as I saw her deteriorate that she’d need to tell me when it was her time because I just couldn’t choose for her. She let me know when the time came, and I was at peace with letting her go.

I love you little girl, I look forward to the day I see you again.

Thank you. I grew up with hunting labs but she was my first dog that was all my own.

Sorry for your loss. It's never easy.

 

Labs are great companions. Kimo is my third Labrador. The loss of my second, Riley, was pretty devastating--even today. Regardless of the breed, our pups are special and I cherish every moment I have with mine--even when he's doing bad dog shit.

Kids and dogs can be a challenge sometimes, but sooooo worth it.

 

It has been about 2 years since I went through the same battle, and I sincerely am sorry for your loss. I still think of my buddy Moose every day. I have had a dog everyday of my life, and once he was gone, I didn't really know how to human without one. Dogs make the space in your heart, to feel this empty when they are gone.

Sorry for your loss. I still remember our yellow lab Isabelle. Smartest, kindest dog I ever had.

 

Heard that brother. Dusty is my 3rd. Sully was my 2nd and first dog to be all mine and I can still cry if I dwell on it. Sorry for Laxtoy's loss. Sully loved hats-
