I personally haven't heard of anyone breaking that loop:notsure:

Here's the manual for anyone interested.

Edit: It says use on hard surface roads, 50 miles max, 18 mph max. Maybe, someone can do the math

The OEM passenger side hook is for recovering the vehicle. The driver side one is just a transport loop. That’s why they are different. All other opinions here are just guys trying to sell you the same overland crap they bought so they can feel better about buying a hunk of pot-metal for $300, then painting it red.

Notice they are not attaching to the hook for tying down the vehicle, which is a recover point. Toyota avoids, for good reason, spelling it out for you. They don’t want it on their shoulders when you botch your recovery, but they gave you the hook nonetheless.

What about these that Toyota dealership offers? For $25 seems like a great deal upload_2023-6-28_9-11-41.png
