Since I don't usually watch TW on weekends, I'm a little late in sharing, but....

Happy belated birthday @lynyrd3 Lot of April birthdays in my family (me, my sister, my wife, wife's brother, a cousin, both my best friends)

We had an official Tornado warning for our area on Friday night/Saturday early morning. Thankfully no damage anywhere in our neighborhood that we saw.
The straight red shaded area is the official tornado forecast track. Just to the south of our place.....

My company has two of our most critical facilities (corporate data center, manufacturing plant) in the Cleveland, OH area. Severe weather over the weekend took out power to both locations. The data center is still running on generator power, local utility company doesn't expect to have power back until at least 4PM this afternoon. I ended up having to work a few hours on Saturday, and 11 hours yesterday because of this mess. Ugh.

That’s pretty good if they can get y’all back up and running today, these people have been crazy busy lately. We had an ice storm last month, help came in from three states. People still complaining it took over three days to restore power.

Both of our facilities are in or near Cleveland, OH. One was back to street power in several hours, the other has been onn generator since mid day Saturday, they are forecasting 4PM today to restore power. The other facility doesn't have a backup generator. Company might be evaluating the cost benefit of getting a gen for that critical manufacturing facility o_O

My wife and I had a 9KW portable gen at our house in California, as the geniuses that run the electrical systems there decided a few years ago to shut off any areas that had high heat and/or high winds, to prevent any trees from touching power lines and starting any more fires (the Camp Fire a few years ago was started this way, wiped 80+% of the town of Paradise off the map), you could be out for hours, or days.... We were lucky, our house already had a transfer switch installed when we bought the place. We made good use of it, let me tell you.

Paid around $900 for that generator. A whole house standby starts at $12K and goes up, in CA at least.

Since I work from home, and we get high winds here in southeast KY a fair bit, I've thought of getting a portable generator for this place. Would also need to have a transfer switch wired in.

Wife and I are in the process of upgrading our electrical system, things are on hold right now. Trying to sort out some health issues.

A few years ago we updated our service box. New box has a built-in transfer switch, so I can pick and choose which circuits I want to use. I have a 5500w generator.

Our first goal is to get 200amp service panel with transfer switch. Currently have 100amp Pushmatic panel, completely obsolete, no new parts available. Fortunately our electrician has some parts available to get us by. This old house.

How old is the house? We’ve been doing 200amp on our power poles since I was a kid.

    Happy monday and good morning!!

Got this last year for my power needs after losing power for a week during a snow storm. Best power ratio and shares same fuel type as my tractor.
