Cant like that Mollie. Blade stuck in log is not a good thing . Hardwoods can be difficult.

So yesterday's tale of woe goes like this:

We get the logs out and go to get one loaded on the mizer, but my brother smashes his leg against the metal edge and splits his shin open, so I do my best not to pass out or throw up while handing him things from my first aid kit to close the wound. He says he's fine, I think he needs stitches. We continue on.

The very first cut the blade gets stuck just inches from the end. We try to fix it but end up only being able to remedy it by removing the blade from the machine as you saw from the picture yesterday. The blade still won't come out, so we have to wedge things in the cut to pry the blade out slowly. :frusty:

We reattach the blade and get it running again, but decide to try a less awkward piece, so we put a new log on thats straight. We make one cut and as soon as its through the blade comes off the track again. :frusty::frusty:

We get it back on. Determine that the wood might still be too wet causing some friction problems. So we put on a dry piece. Make one cut, the blade comes off. We put it back. We cut a full oak log. Yay! This seems better, let's try the last piece of cherry, it seems the most promising anyway and its be great to get at least one piece of cherry out of all this.

    :nuclear:

The machine stops while we're loading the new log on. Just stops. Something broke inside the engine.

    The end.

I know. Some days are just determined to be disasters. Can't dwell on it though.

I'm sad I've lost my milling capabilities though. :( Hopefully I'll get it back in the future someday. :fingerscrossed:

I remember as a child, back in the stone ages (close enough for the young pups running around now) watching "The Waltons" with the family on Thursday nights. They always made a big deal how dangerous and fragile the "wood mill" business was.

Now I am older and more educated, if I am not wiser.

I know the Waltons. Can I still be a young pup? :fingerscrossed:

When I did home care, one of my clients watched the Waltons every day.
