It is on their instagram along with countless comments directly from Toyota that go along with them making an announcement tomorrow. Whether its just a tease or a full blown reveal remains to be seen but it's not just click bait.

I wonder how the 2.7t 4 does in the 1/2 ton GM. I'd probably only go short bed on one of those and wouldn't be loading it up. I don't think they get the milage that the 3.5tt Ford does.

I don't think Toyota designed the new Tundra to do much towing, which I think is fine for the segment Toyota is more of a lifestyle truck, and I think the Tundra can handle light towing.

I agree. I don’t notice much difference between my Tacoma and 4Runner. I have also spent a bit of time in a newer Ram 1500 and don’t notice much difference. They all drive like trucks.

Thats just not correct, there are plenty of performance benefits offered by moving to a rear coil setup especially for a relatively light vehicle like the tacoma. Coil springs are more flexible offering a much wider range of suspension movement.Because of this they offer better ride comfort and handling. Off-road they provide better departure angles and are not affected by axle wrap. You also can't beat the amount articulation you get with leaf springs. People who off-road their taco will most certainly notice a difference. Th average buyer would certainly notice an improvement in comfort and handling on the street at the very least. If they don't they are brain dead. Leaf springs would also be cheaper for them to produce is it's not about cutting cost. The ram 1500 was the first to switch years ago and it had noticeably better comfort than the other full-size offerings.

I would think coils are less expensive than leaves just from a materials cost. Isn't there more steel in a pair of leaves than there is pair coil springs and trailing arms. There should be a savings in shipping the components alone. Then the savings in not developing a separate leaf set up just for the Tacoma.

Coils require more manufacturing changes to the raw materials. That requires tooling and labor which adds up much faster than raw costs at these scales.

A rear coil link setup compared to a leaf setup offers better ride and much better off road capability. I have had both as well as friends and coil 5 link setup is much better. This next gen Tacoma will be the best riding and off-roading modern Tacoma ever built.

I'm just hoping they can improve the seating position to be more upright and in line with every other modern mid sized truck.

Cost on the front end for developing and tuning the coils sprung system. But yea probably cheaper when they moved all their truck platfroms to coil sprung.

Jeep has been using rear coils on the Wrangler since the late 90s, I'm sure there are added benefits off road to coil sprung vs leaf sprung rear suspension. That was one of the things I like about the Ram 1500 Classic.

Looking at aftermarket products a pair of Deaver leaf springs are a lot more money than a pair of rear Eibach coils. There is a lot of material used in the Deaver's to be fair. OEM springs don't look like that. I doubt if the 4G would have been running around on 3G leave, those would have been designed from scratch.

Of course it's a Photoshop. The new Tacoma in the distance was photoshopped in. Along with the license plate and the building office placard. That picture is from 2015 from the 3rd gen reveal. I think that's the point, using a 3rd gen reveal photo for a 4th gen teaser.

My point it looks like a bad photoshop. Something I'm capable of and not a professional graphic designer in the employ of Toyota.

Regardless, it was confirmed by multiple posters that it came from an official Toyota Instagram account so my BS prediction is in part wrong.

Toyota spends enough money on advertising trucks that sell themselves, I'd rather they use a better grade of plastic on their seats controls.
