I need help deciding on which brand suspension lift to put on my 2017 access cab 4x4. Nothing crazy, leveling or a 2-3inch lift and run 285/75/r16 or 295/75/r16. Daily driver, prob be 90-95% on Highway and only 5-10% off road. I was about to pull the trigger on an Icon stage 4 but think that’s the wrong way to go. I am just looking for a good smooth ride and pretty decent capabilities when I am using it for that 5-10% and would rather put the money in gears and lockers, bumper, winch and rock sliders etc. I am going Friday and make a decision. Please help! lol

Whats your favorite flavor of ice cream?

There are many ways to go.

You can trust what my favorite flavor is, or you can dive into the suspension forum and read, read, and read some more.

Its a big investment, so I personally chose option B.

My thoughts are 5100's or 6112/5160's Bilstein best bang for your buck, with what your use is going to be. I'm running 6112/5160. Very happy with them, same use as you mentioned.

Since you mention you were close to purchasing the icon, I’ll assume Bilstein 6112 in the front, Bilstein 5160 in the rear, as well as the Icon RXT leaf pack are well within your budget. It’s a nice setup that should cost you less than the icon stage 4.

    Welcome to the madness.

Expensive racing suspension will ride stiffer, not smoother, than factory shocks.

Do you know why there are hundreds of lift kits? Because there are hundreds of opinions. Do some reading, check your finances and buy what you can afford.

Wow, new gears, a lift and 285’s, sliders, lockers, winch for going off road 5% of the time. Is your 5% of off roading going to be rock crawling?

Agreed with doing the research and reading a lot first. For me, it was the OME 3" kit (2.5" actual), medium load. Very happy with it for my purposes.

Welcome to TW. If you can, I’d recommend taking help out of your title. It’s usually reserved for people that are stuck off roading or needing immediate help.

    This right here- plus
If you’re looking at Icons, I’d say reach out to Colton @memario1214 with Hotshot off-road or @AccuTune Offroad Two different places but both very knowledgeable and able to help. Tell them what you want, your budget and a cc number.

No but do not plan on getting rid of the truck, I will get another one in a year or so and want to get most of it done at once and be done with it.

If you're looking for smooth, I'd consider looking at Kings or something. I put an Icon stage 3 kit on my truck, and I like the suspension, and it does its job... But my experience is that Icon is going to be a little stiff (it's the whole "digressive vs progressive" thing). Icons are going to be bumpy/stiff at low speeds. If I was going to do it again, I might consider other options. Just my 2 cents.
