Yea I had that thought when I handed over the CC. Our company cards were new and not acting right which led me to handing over my personal. Our accountant is aware of the amount and is declaring it. Good thing is I file as an s corp so my taxes are integrated with my company’s taxes since I’m one of the owners.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Put weight on it or ratchet strap it while it dries.

Done some coasters this weekend. I need to decide on how to finish the 22/45 exploded view and I also need to start selling some of this stuff to get it out of the garage!

Still working on my portable minibars. The dovetails are finally done, now for the rest of the work. Fun times.

I know this will open up a can of worms (like oil change questions), but here goes.

I am a novice DIY guy but as I get closer to retirement I’d like to do more. But will still never be at the level of some of you guys. So, as I start to replace a few older tools I’d like to pick a ‘family’ so I can head towards more cordless compatibility. Thinking DeWalt and Milwaukee are likely the sweet spot on price and quality but open to thoughts. It doesn’t ALL have to be cordless (table and miter saws could be corded). Currently my only cordless tool is a Ryobi drill.

I run Makita cordless drill and driver, I like them, but they are older. Everything else is corded but old. Everything has changed so much in the last 10-15 years.

Either brand is a good decision. I personally have a lot of cordless Dewalt tools. The 20V has always been enough power to do anything I want. I have a Bosch table saw and Miter saw as they seem to come out higher on the accuracy scale.

I have a whole slew of Ryobi tools for light-duty work. They are relatively inexpensive, they do the job, and the battery platform has never changed. Their 18v battery will work in a Ryobi tool no matter how old. As a hobbyist, they do the trick.

If I need something with more oomph, I also have a small collection of DeWalt 18v and 20v.

I guess it all depends. I have a bunch of Ryobi for non critical work and they work fine for the light duty I use mine for, and I have a bunch of Festool for when precision matters. I use both.

I may stain it, then shellac it? I’ve never used shellac before, but bought a can the other day.

Not a professional, not even a real hobbyist woodworker. Just like to make stuff. I went with Dewalt because their was a repair location literally at the end of my street so the assumption was if something needed to be sent in for repairs or parts ordered I could literally walk there. Ironically it was closed during the pandemic, and not one of my Dewalt tools has ever needed repairs. ::knocks on wood::

Absolutely love Milwaukee for the variety of tools in both 12 and 18 volt but I don't think you can go wrong with either. (Dewalt or Milwaukee)

Btw, when you buy hand tools, quality makes a huge difference. No matter how much I screw around with my Stanley planes, they never shave like this. 3349870A-D8DF-4506-A282-A5A85034F3BB.jpg

I have that micrometer. Works great if you don’t let the battery die.

They’ll all epoxied, and just need the final polishing. This looks best so I’m wearing it because I can.
