Why wouldn’t you want something with more torque? A turbo 4 will outhaul the current V6.

I second this. You got a good truck, you're in a good spot to sit and wait, see what the 25s & 26s are like. I wouldnt buy the first of a new gen either, these trucks hold their value really well. I'd say you got time to wait and see.

Man I’d take my 4.0 back anyday over this 3.5. Id leave the tundra alone. #1 residual value truck is and will alway will be a taco(this is coming from a Chevy man) it all your preference on the year. I always wait a year after the new roll out for the manufacturers to work out the kinks.

8k can buy a nice vacation, with scuba lessons to match.

Or it can buy a motorbike. Or a used camper, that people are starting to desperately unload.

Or it can buy a truck with five extra buttons in the dash.

No wrong answers. Your money, use it to make your life the best that it can be.

I bought the 2003 Honda Pilot in its first year of production.

Only difference was, it shared the same platform as the Acura MDX.

It's probably why it was a good first generation model. The Acura was the upscale version.

    https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15136366/2003-honda-pilot-ex-road-test/

Of course, I'm comparing an apple to an orange and Toyota is a totally different animal.

Me personally, I would drive it until the wheels fall off and rat hole your monies . Then when you really need a ride, money talks.

While 4 cyl turbo will perform better at lower RPMs, I would still prefer NA V6 for its simplicity. Turbo 4 banger in a heavy pick up just doesn’t sit well with me.

Man, I’m very curious as to how 4th gen will turn out.

IMHO new tundra is kind of meh.

Same. Last truck I had was for 24 years. I only have 2K on mine and it’s 7 months old.

I got a '22 because it was up in the air as to when the next gen would debut. I did not want the involved technology and complexity that comes with a hybrid.

A turbo 4 needs higher rpm range to get into it's real power band and a turbo engine opertates at a higher internal temperature and a higher internal pressure than a normally aspirated engine. This may not be a big deal to some folks but if you are interested in longevity, this could be detrimental.

I have always been of the mindset that you never buy the first or second year of a new model. This has served me very well so far. Either way, good luck!

    Nice!

Had my previous truck for 7 years. Was a 2007 ford ranger, still drove like new at 165k miles when I sold it. The access cab wasn’t ideal for me and I’ve always wanted a Tacoma. Here I am!

I’ve had one very good experience in July 2022. Offered OVER book for a 4 year old vehicle. Flat bed driver brought a check. Inspection took 10 minutes. Off it went. Was going to use them again early this year and hear some horror stories starting to happen. Especially when purchasing. “Losing titles” etc.

trucks want torque not horsepower, that’s why diesel trucks have 900-1,000 lb-ft of torque. The “powerband” on a turbo 4 from GM has a wide band that a V6 simply won’t give you.

    I thought it’s 2.4L that’s gonna be used in the 4th gen.
