Got a price to install the 5100's...

One local Indy shop wouldn't do it because I already have the shocks...

Goodyear tire center will do it for flat rate which = $270.00 for the fronts...$72.00 for the rears...$79.00 for an alignment...

$421.00 total (plus taxes and any "fees" they can add in)

Seems high? Is this fair? or should I just make the drive to the Toyota dealership 50 miles away?

Thanks Chris. I felt pretty good about the Goodyear shop...the manager seemed like he was wanting to earn my business...

I'm comfortable with doing the rears myself...but the fronts require more work and a spring press...

Then there is the alignment...

 

you should really consider doing the rears yourself! It is very easy

 

Do what I plan on doing. Take your stock coil assembly off the truck and take it with your new shocks to a local place to have them compresses and install your shocks on, then take 'em back home and reinstall them. It will save you a lot of money and then you'll get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Of course you'll have to have an alignment done afterwords, but with the money you save on install that gives you money for beer or more mods.

 

its one of those crap shots

i did the front ones with a buddy who is in the auto biz.

its not really hard to do the front ones

compressing the springs to remove and replace shocks can be tricky

the rear ones are real simple.

but i always say, if you dont have the knowledge or tools

its better to let them do it.

this is what i did, then got my TSB rear leafs done. free alignment

 

Gonna set the fronts @ .85

my truck is not a rock crawler...and I want to get the front up a little to get back to a factory stance after the rear TSB spring install lifted the rear approx. one inch.

I decided to get the rears while I was at it.

I may install the rears myself and save the $70.00 labor.

The fronts I'm not gonna fool with...and of course I need an alignment done by a shop who knows it correctly.

 

Man, that seems really expensive. If you have a competent mechanic that you know I would take it to them. Mine charged me the flat rate for front strut replacement (2 hrs @ $65/hr + alignment $60). It totalled $190 for installation. I supplied the 5100's and to make sure he had no excuses, I printed detailed instructions on the installation. He had no problems and it rides awesome.

My local shop also wanted around $600 to install the full OME kit and thats with a 10% discount for military. Im just going to have someone else help me put it on.
