I feel all Toyotas have undersized front brakes, my wife's highlander always has warped rotors it seems.
I'm not sure on the size brakes used between the 3 generations?

Brake wear has a whole lot to do with driving style. Hard breaking etc.

This is a world of horseshoes and hand grenades. Close counts on speculation and rumors. If you used absolutes, you would have issues. Since you preface everything with clear indication of being leaked knowledge, a certain amount of error or unforeseen change has to be accepted.

Same here. I changed the drum shoes at 100K. They still have quite a bit of pad left. I’ll never touch them again for the life of the truck. I drive on the beach and have never had any issue with sand in the disk or drum brakes. Sweers was just using the “drums are better offroad” as an excuse for Toyota not updating the brakes.

Yes. No intent to move out of my '19 anytime soon, but curious to see how it looks/peforms. I think its going to be a Toyota home run, much like the Gen. 4.5 Rav4 hybrid turned out to be (note I did not say Tundra).

Can’t wait to see what comes out tomorrow. I have a deposit in a ‘23 Pro 6MT but if there is a manual option it will make the decision interesting.

I mentioned previously that my Canadian dealer took my order (AC, MT, OR, Black), sent it to Toyota and apparently got back notification that they would build one to that spec. It's what I got, albeit 7-8 months later.

Well, at the risk of being proven wrong in less than 24 hours, my prediction is the A25A-FXS engine (2.5L, normally aspirated Atkinson cycle) will be offered as a hybrid for most builds. Other options will be the A25A FKS (Atkinson/Otto version..kind of like the way our 3.5L works today) non-hybrid in the USA for 2WD versions; the T24A (2.4 L Turbo) in some trims, and the T24A as a "Hybrid Max" in the top level trims.

Both engines are part of the new "Dynamic Force" series that Toyota says they are going to use on 80+% of their vehicles from now on. Given how many Tacomas and 4Runners they sell, that's only possible if they use those engines on the new generations for both. So, when the government says mileage is VERY important, 4-bangers rule.

Of course, if Toyota had a few Dodge engineers on staff, they'd be sticking the V6 3.5L twin turbo Hybrid Max in an upgraded TRD Pro with 33-35 inch tires and call it the "Godzilla." #halocar

Was that the only colour the dealer had?

yup, this is Toyota. how many of their vehicles have more than 2 engine options? a lot of them only have 1. no way they’re going to offer 3. it will be gas and gas-hybrid, both turbo4 based, that’s it.

^Well the Tundra at one point had 3 engines 4.0, 4.6, and 5.7, back when Toyota was trying to conquer the industry...

The A25A naturally aspirated 4-cyl makes more power than the 5VZ V6 did in 1st gens, right?

We shall see....I like the turbo-only idea (with Hybrid Max as the upgrade) but I just think the 2.5 L hybrid will be so efficient, and still give north of 200 hp with the electrics added, that it would be a big seller to a lot of the non-TW buyers.
