Picked up one of these. It works great!

I watched the Project Farm battery chainsaw showdown even though it's kind of a moot point since I'm so invested in Makita's battery platform. Others were better in different areas (the DeWalt's power was really impressive), but he liked the Makita best overall. He said the safety trigger is better thought out than many and it's nicely balanced.

I find that with Makita in general. We have Milwaukee at work and the batteries are nicer and they have a little more power, but my Makita tools just feel better in the hand to me - the ergonomics are always spot on.

Which model? I’m in the same boat, fully invested into the Makita lineup and would like to add a smaller saw. I got their handheld leaf blower and string trimmer this winter

The saw is the XCU04Z. I ended up getting the XCU04CM because I couldn't pass up two more 4.0 AH batteries for another $40. They have a 5.0 kit too that was closer to the $400 mark when I bought, but now it's $360 so that's probably the best deal.

I had a Stihl 026 that I sold - it just didn't make sense for me to keep a gas saw that I use so rarely, especially when I needed to put some money into it (bar, chain, bar oil leak). This doesn't quite have the power the Stihl did - it says it's equal to 32cc while I think my Stihl was 46cc. But, as long as I let the saw do the work it went through everything I threw at it no problem.

I have the 36v attachment powerhead with the string trimmer and hedge trimmer attachments and it's awesome - plenty of power. I'd like to get the little cultivator head for it next.

If you're just an average joe homeowner, electric is fine. My preference is corded, but I get the cordless draw too. I have a gas powered because I got it for free (or cheap, cant remember anymore). Otherwise I'd have a corded hands down, I hate batteries.

Even with my little 2/3 of an acre, I couldn't do a corded. I'd have needed 150+ ft of cord to get to where I was cutting this weekend.

I have around 8 Makita batteries for my drills, impacts, saws, weedwacker, etc. I have only had to retire one and it was a puny 1.5 AH battery that made it 9 years. The others are all going strong.

I still have a giant Milwaukee corded 1/2 inch impact that I held onto, but I recently discovered but my little 18v Makita is actually somehow stronger so the Milwaukee will probably go away in the next purge. I do have a cheap corded angle grinder that I'll keep since it's nice to have a cutoff wheel in the cordless and a grinding disc in the corded for certain projects.

I'm terrible (or really good, depending on your take) about clutter. The girlfriend is too. We go through the house the day before every trash day to try to find things to throw away and regularly purge stuff from our closets, cabinets, the garage, etc. I think it's because both of us had packrat parents and want to be as far removed from that behavior as possible. My mom's house stresses me out every time I go over there.

Yeah I have 14 acres so corded isn’t an option. I have an older Stihl gas powered saw but would think a smaller battery operated saw would be a great compliment.

I ain't THAT good about clutter but I'm similar. The big truck comes every week to haul away your stuff, why not take advantage of it. Send it off to somewhere else in the space time continuum. I dont want to have stuff that I have just for someone to sort through after I die.

Battery can have some KICK to it vs corded I've noticed, but it's all about give and take. I have 1/3 acre with no trees (okay, one small tree that's essentially a bush and might come down anyway in the next couple weeks). I'm in a semi-dense (think post war 1950s) neighborhood, so a plug in electric saw does enough and it's quiet enough to not be obnoxious, too.

I levitate toward corded though. Nothing sucks more than being 1/2 way through cutting your lawn and the lawn mower battery dies. I've run out of gas, that's annoying, would suck to have to wait an hour to recharge.

 14 acres is a dream. I have a LOT of land for down here, and I'm sitting on 1/3 acre lot. Absolutely, no engine, and it's a simple buzz buzz for the small jobs.

Jokes aside I posted a picture of electric scooters for Chase to get around on, I am actually considering one. My commute is a mile and a half, max is 4% grade (thanks to strava from when I ride my bike :D ), so a scooter would plug in and get me from A to B, way easier than the truck, and the bike. All about application, riding it 20 miles through backwoods roads would be a strong no.

    Absolutely.

Actually considered that first too. A scooter can fold up and stash under my desk, and I have a bicycle I can use for >5 mile treks, and a road bike for >20 mile rides. I don't have to change clothes with the scooter, lock it up outside, etc.

Plus the cost for a pretty decent scooter is the same as bottom dollar for an e bike. For my use case the e bike isn't worth it vs the scooter

Selling point e bike is that they're road legal as written. Scooters are sort of a grey area in the state, and my town. They have the rental ones in providence but not my town.

You still have a sway bar? Otherwise I'm thinking re torque uca bolt and LCAs. Pop them loose and make sure they are not seized.
