    Hello All,

My drivers seat has been getting worse throughout the years. Any tips on preventing major creases/tears or further wear? I park the truck under an RV pad so it’s technically always outside in heat or cold.

    Thank you,

    Ivan

I would suggest reupholstering the front row.

Lift yourself over the edge of the seat instead of sliding over it when getting in and out of your truck- it’s sorta like getting on a horse- left leg up on the slider bar or step, right hand on the steering wheel, lift your right leg up and in while standing up on the stirrup (step) with your left leg to lift your ass onto the saddle.

this is what i expected from day one.
sliders or steps might help but maybe just a grab handle on the driver's side.
i made one out of a strap that hangs from a bolt on the pillar and that helps quite a bit
getting my butt off the seat as i slide out.
there is also an actual grab handle option from a third party, if you want to go all in, but the vendor
    is apparently an a$$.

I try and lift my ass over that bolster but it’s hard because it’s not the biggest cab to get out of. My side steps are useless for an adult as they put you too high to easily enter the cab. So I keep the leather conditioner to my seat often

I put my left palm on the door sill and I pivot myself out of the seat, if that makes sense. I never drag my ass across the bolster.:)

Similar creases on the 5th gen 4Runner (just look at used 4Runners for sale, almost 100% have this issue). Seat covers will hide the problem. A good leather treatment wipe (like Meguiars) can slow it down some.

If you get an A-pillar grab handle and side steps or sliders, you can easily lift yourself over the seat bolster. The side steps or sliders are optional if you have the needed level of core strength:

If you take care of it it won’t. Just like with anything maintenance is key.

While I’m conscious when exiting, either will fail when some drag their ass across the bolster,,, I have never had good, or even decent, results from many brand’s of pleather. I’ll just run cloth w covers.

It will but takes alot longer and doesn’t get all those ugly creases. Been there done that. Did have a suv with 125k on it and 10 years old my seats looked brand new with no seat cover but I do take care of my stuff. Guess it depends on how you take care of any of them but my other vehicle has the leather trim around it and it’s wearing just like his I slipped a seat cover over it only has 60k miles and a 2017 model.

anything you want to know about it ought to be in these two threads.
some are happy. some are not.

also use the search function for "grab handle" for titles only. lots of info/threads and
maybe alteratives to KTJO. I recall people posting straps etc which gave me the idea to make my own.

This is the way. It will wear out and replacing the foam and fabric is not that hard. Makes the truck feel like new.
