Production cost means more to manufacturers than anything else. I could see the AC and DCSB sharing the same frame as it does now, but that means a seperate cab design which costs money, and a different size bed which wouldn't be as expensive as designing a new cab.

The most cost effective thing would be to offer a single configuration. Most Toyota loyalists would stick with the brand if they have to go with a configuration that they don't prefer. There's always Tundra if the buyer really needs more truck, and Toyota will happily sell you one.

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
I got a 23 thinking maybe I’ll get a mid cycle gen 4? Who knows. It’s funny too that we talk up all this and next year an Orkin new hire is gonna get a white Gen 4 and think nothing of it

So far we have seen turbos spoilers and fancy tailgates. There's Toyota's legendary off road prowles. Not necessarily things truck buyers are usually concerned with. Important elements to the success of the Tacoma.

I really hope you aren't right. I'd likely end up buying an extended cab Pro-4X if Toyota does ditch the longer bed.

No money, all went to truck...
With the i-forcemax engine confirmed, does this mean death to manual tranny?

Definitely am not. I was an early adopter, new 16 in September of 16 and had some minor issues. Was here to see all the growing pains. Active on the new Tundra boards, groups and forums and the amount of issues that continue to plague that truck along with just the reported build quality and cheapness I’ve noticed first person. I’m gonna hold off before donating my 2022 to the dealer used lot.

I do see alot of them. I think those along with the AC would sell more if Toyota built them.

I am set on getting the 4x4 2024 Tacoma Hybrid, and one of the TRD trims. It will be my first Toyota Truck since 2006! I traded in my 2000 4x4 Tacoma in 2006 for a 2006 Titan 4x4 (Fully Loaded), and only got rid of the Titan about 2 months ago. Only reason I got the Titan was because Toyota did NOT have a Full Size Truck back then.

The Titan was too much problems for me to keep, more than it was worth, so I sold it to Car Max for only $6000 (It only had 117,000 miles, paint was perfect as can be, and Truck was Lifted and Super Clean). Titan's resale are horrible! while Toyota's resale have always been AMAZING.

Attached is my 2000 Tacoma that I surely miss, and am looking forward to owning a Tacoma again.

Me!!! Also think fishing rods/gear, kayak (with a bed extender), moving/hauling...etc. That 13 inches of extra bed makes a difference at minimal inconvenience IMO.

I wonder what pricing will look like. The Tundra went up a significant amount this gen. Crazy that TRD trims may be close to 50k :(

I just went and washed my Pro on my lunch break and I got thinking that I do enjoy the exhaust note of the Pro. What will a 4cyl turbo hybrid sound like hope not like my Dyson

Sometimes its not just about numbers. Toyota will be faithful to the esthetic and that includes maintaining LB and manual options, IMO.

One can only hope. Think I’ll wait until 2025 before even considering. Then again it will take many years to prove the 4th Gen reliability. Decisions decisions….

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
“BuT nO vRooM VrOom v6 wilL sOunD liKe vaCUuM” :duh:

when in reality the new platform will outperform the previous gens in every way and trust me it will have its shortfalls. Again, the love that we develop for our platform doesn’t mean they are better. They all have their pro’s and con’s and to form a sound opinion then you got to try the new platform first.

if I where on the market for a truck I will buy it no doubt. If you’re at that bracket I believe money is not an issue and therefore you can go back to what ever platform you want.

I think you're right - because around the time the data *starts rolling in* on the 2024's, the 2025's are rolling out. I'd be betting some decent refinements make their way into the 2026's, and certainly by 2027.
