    How close are you to your router?

    I went upstairs and stood next to my router for a better reading. Downstairs the signal is significantly degraded.

    My speed is slow due to being Rural, but the router is probably 25 or 30 feet away.

    I know that split-level houses are largely out of style these days, but I really like this house. It only has 2x4 exterior wall framing instead of 2x6, but it has excellent curb appeal and is fairly spacious. The kitchen would need a bit of reworking, and I would also consider expanding the master bedroom and master bathroom into one of the smaller bedrooms...

    I guarantee you that there will be nothing in this area in my price range with a 3-car garage until I retire. My dad has wanted a 3-car garage his whole life, and the house we rented in the Pacific Northwest (Oak Harbor, Washington) for two years while he was stationed on Whidbey Island had one, but my parents has never owned such a house. A lot of the houses with 3-car garages in my area are either too big (5-bedroom, $1 million+ McMansions) or too small (older, smaller homes with detached garage/workshops that I would actually buy) for my parents; I would love a 3-car garage, but it's not at the top of my list. I've had my Tacoma for more than 13 years, and it's probably spent less than a week of that time in a garage.

    The house my parents owned when I was born technically had a two car garage but it was so much longer than standard that my dad could put his boat lengthwise across the back for winter.

    When they moved to their current house, the boat moved to the driveway for winter. :(

    @Junkhead

    Is central A/C common in Alberta or other Canadian provinces? What kind of heating system is most common?

    But half-assed can sometimes shorten the service life of the appliance being installed. This is especially true of central HVAC equipment. I've seen Carrier and Trane air-conditioners fail after a decade or less, and it was no doubt due to poor installation. I would ever install NORDYNE equipment in my house, but my friend Gwyn has a Gibson (Nordyne) 2.5-ton A/C that was installed back in 2005 in a house that didn't originally have central air. There were a couple of corners cut with the ductwork, but the air-conditioner itself was installed properly, and the only problem it's ever had was a mouse getting into the service access panel and chewing through a wiring harness. The mouse got the equivalent of the electric chair, and the air-conditioner was fixed good as new. Since Gwyn has oil hot water heat, which is incredibly expensive to refill in the winter, I have talked her into getting a heat pump when the Gibson finally dies. The Gibson is 18 years old as of this post and still continues to work fine, and a heat pump would be cheaper to run than any type of oil heat when it's above about 35 degrees.

    I think forced air furnaces heated by natural gas are most common. Most older homes don't have central AC but most new homes do.

    My house, which is built in 2007, has both those.

    My parents' house built in 1965 (ish) doesn't have central AC and has a hot water heating system. Their heating system is called a boiler but I don't think it actually boils the water into steam, just heats it then pumps the hot water to all the radiators.

    How can you tell the exact year and how do you spot C vs K without seeing the front axle?

    I took a guess, though those don't look like 4x4 tires; I think it might actually be a half-ton though.

    It’s a work truck.
    Those tires are cheap. We are hard on them. Get flats fairly regularly. It’s a wood cutting and landscaping truck.

    Years (decades) ago I had a Dodge Ramcharger with a compound low 4 speed transmission. The handbrake would stick in the winter so you couldn't set it to get out and scrape the windows. :mad:

    A block of wood with a clothesline attached worked quite nicely. ;)
