I measured it at pins 1(12v) and 4(gnd), testing resistance with the ohm setting. I could be wrong because it's been over a year. I didn't measure the connection at the spring. Also we can't measure it when any load is on it (easily) but you may be able to monitor it in Torque or some obd program.

I mean, I really want to know that as well. To me it's always either been on, or not at all.

Oil pump has been questionable at best lately with varying pressures on the LT4... So now I have to do a "build" on this car. It's either that or spend $15,000 for a new motor if this pump decides to take a crap on me. Might as well make it bulletproof while I'm in there.

Build: Katech billet oil pump, LME billet timing chain tensioner, DOD (Displacement on Demand/ Active Fuel Management) delete, LS7 lifters and LT1/LT5 cam with a 32% high pressure fuel pump overdrives lobe to support more boost, timing and fuel.

    Current mods are:

ATI 8.43 5% Pulley, NGK HR7 Ruthenium spark plugs, Granatelli stainless steel plug wires, Cordes LTR coolant reservoir, Borla X pipe, AFe NPP dual stage exhaust, Black Widow Venom 250/ Widowmaker mufflers, Banks iDash/ AEM AFR gauges, HP Tuners, Flex Fuel (E50-E60), 11 psi

    PXL_20230405_012457976.jpg

I don't care how much this puts me in the hole, at the end of the day, I LOVE boost so every vehicle I own will have boost no matter what.

It's a flexible boot compared to a denso coil pack that is rigid. I assume they ran into a problem with user or design issues. Though in the racing world, there's plenty of times people lose spark or coil pack and wiring harnes can be an issue.

I know my boots were installed properly, they were an absolute pain pulling off the ruthenium spark plugs I had to use both hands to pull them off. My best guess is the way I have been driving the truck and maybe their coils aren’t as vibration resistant as they claim. To be completely honest, I wasn’t sold on how well the 4runner version sealed the top of the valve cover. I believe the tacoma specific packs are also shorter boots but I could be remembering wrong. I trimmed one boot to try and make it fit better but I didn't bother with the rest. They still “sealed” the top of the spark tube, it just wasn’t as tight of a fit as stock coils. Either way that’s what I get for playing lab rat with coil packs not made specifically for my truck I guess.

I cut the boots down on all of my RIPP coils. I just saw no other way to do it. I'm not too thrilled about the way they seal up top or lack thereof, but regardless it's all been working and been working fine for quite a few years now, so.. :notsure:

AFE stage II intake, APR X1, URD 70mm Throttle Valve (ported and knife edged), NST intake manifold spacer, URD spec U headers, Denso IKH20, URD fuel pump, APR fuel rail, URD Y pipe, URD spec u catback, lightweight water pump pulley, Greddy sandwich cooler plate, Earls oil cooler, IPT valve body, FJ TRD shocks, Cusco front and rear sway bars, Energy Suspension rear track rod bushings and rear link bushings, Carbotech pads, Stoptech ss brake lines, Stoptech slotted rotors, Motul 600 rbf, Limited Grill, Painted hatch cover by me, Painted valve covers by me, Cobra CB, TRD rad and oil cap, Escort 8500, Autometer oil psi and temp gauges, AEM wideband afr gauge, Flexpod, Pioneer 400w speakers.
Both look fine but could always ask to pull a plug and open the pass side valve cover to check if fluids have been changed. 4x4 pan would be an upgrade for an xrunner.

I don’t know if my multimeter is just shit but this is what my results were for testing the coils.
    .663 M Ohm
    .730 M Ohm
    .698 M Ohm
    .710 M Ohm
    .711 M Ohm
    1.07 M Ohm (coil I broke)

Sounds like he might have gotten a lemon. It's definitely not an engine that they have made easy to access as far as all the crap they fill it with is concerned. I think they pulled like 9 different cooling hoses and lines off the radiator alone before they could pull out the radiator fan shroud.

I didn't think there was any room for deeper or larger pan on our trucks? Wouldn't this also limit options or have possible conflicts for those of us with skid plates (especially with all the different brands of plates and how they are reinforced?)

    Lots baby!
I do not think it will work on a 4wd nor is it needed on a 4wd. The 4wd trucks all ready have a deep oil pan sump.

This is more of an X-Runner or 2wd mod.

A finned pan mainly (for cooling) with slightly larger capacity is what I'm after.

Sounds like you might need to get under there and check. Have space under mine and I'm using a Fumoto quick drain valve I modded to be shorter.
