How are you guys getting 20+ MPG V6 4x4s

i think you should just go right ahead and buy another gm product.. cause if theres one thing about gm they no how to do business and there deff not up the governments ace hole

Maybe our cheap gas (compared to surrounding areas) is cheap because it sucks. Too much ethanol, idk... Maybe its NJ elevation, our roads, etc. I struggle with this every vehicle I've had. Must be the state... I'm moving to PA in the next few months. It'll be worse I'm sure with all the extra hills.

 

So final answer people please and thank you.....what should I expect IF I own
2011 double cab v6 long box automatic, stock EVERYTHING (except any minor things anyone could fill me in with)
I usually drive very conservative, and about a 8 out of 10 on the Grandma scale.
Any help would be great

 

I have the same thing you do, except a short box and I average around 18.5mpg on a full tank.

 

Last round I got 14.9 mpg (all city mileage).

 

Isnt that pretty bad for a a 4L V6? I dont understand. My old 2000 Silverado was like 11-12 and I would puke when I had to fill it, but 18.5 doesnt seem like its that good either. I also had a 2008 Civic SI and when I drove it hard I would still get 19mpg. That was redlining it at 8000 sometimes too

I've been averaging a little over 14mpg over the winter.

 

sticker says 16-21 for an automatic. you'll be in there. your right, 18.5mpg at $3.50 isn't great, but we're driving a truck, not a prius.

 

actually, gas is $1.30 a liter here.......almost want to cry. Thats almost $5 a gallon for you guys

 

Ouch! I'm sure its well on its way here too. Two summers ago off road diesel was 4.25 a gallon. My dad and I bale hay for a living and our fuel bill was over a grand a week.

 

At work our 2500 chev vans eat gas like no tomorrow. Our bill a truck is about $130 a week and we run 12-15 lol, its gross.
Funny though, we are literally ON the Atlantic ocean and watch everything be imported. Gas, oil or whatever. But yet we pay the highest price. But we just bend over and take it. 3.50 p/g would be SICK! That would be like .92 cents a liter, I wouldnt care about the gas to be honest lol. Thats cheapppppppppp now to me

 

when does the break -in period get over with? i have aprox 1700 miles and i only get 14.5 (thats the best ive gotten). ive been told wait till it warms up, keep it at 2000 rpm's and lower, keep your foot off the gas, burn 87 octane. (<from the dealership) i cant wait to pull the duck blind around to see my mileage then! oh well... its better than what i was getting in my old truck.

A single cab, short bed, 4X4, 2.7 liter Taco would be a sweet truck. Anything bigger I don't feel would be worth it. IMO.
