I'll consider this, but that seems sketchy as hell. Maybe I need to build up the courage before I handle the explosive part o_O thanks!

Tried this. Won't work. Charge module for the Tacoma is too big. Bolt holes don't align, either.

What steering wheel are you using? I used the 02 Tacoma charge module on a 2000 Celica bag

Steering wheel is from an 01-05 is300. I don't know which exact year, though.

1st gen Tacoma. A '99, as I previously mentioned. I own both a 1st, and 2nd gen. Thanks for your input.

How were they different? My 2014 wheel looked just like all of the 3rd Gen wheels I've seen.

Not exactly an answer to your question, but I had mine covered with black leather in my '03 . The guy at the shop who did it said he usually does this sort of thing for antique Bentleys and cars like that, it was the first one he'd done on a pickup. I think it looks and feels great. I went with black instead of grey because I figured grey would get dirty faster.

The truck isn't throwing any SRS light or error code because of the missing steering airbag?

It throws the airbag light on but I think I can bypass it by jumping a wire in the connection. I haven't played with it yet.

i know this is an old post, however i ran in to the same issue. 99 SR5 here, swapping in an 01 is300 manual steering wheel.

the airbag connector from the OE tacoma clock spring is a different connector which is on the IS300 bag.

Toyota sells a JDM conversion plug "Sub Harness", part number: 09082-00760. I got it from a vendor in Japan via Ebay that sells these so you can put the IS300 steeringwheel on 3rd gen Supras, etc.

These clip right in- There is just enough room in the IS300 steeringwheel to stuff the connector (bottom left) without interference with the OE clockspring... I have not tried to re-wire the cruise control yet (i really dont use it that often and i didnt have time to 3D print a cover for the IS wheel.. so i left the stalk there.. Horn works fine which is most important to tell losers on the phone in front of me to move ...

This looks perfect and I have not acted on this yet, so will probably copy this verbatim (if I can find one). Thanks for the update!

Can you post the diameter though?

    SRS Adapter:
The Ebay Seller I used was "Candy-Japan".. It was sent FedEx and was very well packaged. Here is the listing for the SRS adapter.

Here is a comparison of the two size differences between the IS300 and OE Tacoma 2spoke.
I think the IS300 steering wheel is approx 370mm which is ~ 14.5"

The IS is very nice, has contours for thumb grips and just in general a thicker/firm feel compared to my spongy de-laminating Tacoma steering wheel.

I was able to find the manual version locally, sourced with airbag for $150 off FB marketplace.

You're the MF MAN! I don't have the truck anymore, but will let my Brother in-law know this will get the SRS working again. Light off, and all?

    Thanks!

Correct. No SRS light.. light is off. Airbag fits. Horn works. Have not re-wired for Cruise Control tho... dont really plan on that tho- haven't decided on that..

I have an IS wheel needing the bag cover (blown) if anyone wants it. So-so shape. Shipping is all I'd want.

i went with a Sienna leather wheel because it was tan.
