Question for you guy’s and night riding, been a long time for me.

Do you all ever readjust the headlight/s (vertically up/down) when setting on the bike, or leave as is in stock setting? I know this will vary by bike and weight or said rider. But for an average guy on a what feels a soft rear suspension. This makes sense to me, to readjust with rider weight as many complain about a crap headlight output.

    Thoughts, go.

Riding at night makes me miss the XSR. I'd installed an adaptive headlight that adjusted the cutoff as you leaned the bike which was very nice. Now on the S1000RR, i installed some aftermarket headlights that are certainly bright, but angled too low. I could install some washers to angle it up but I've been lazy about it...just try not to ride in areas that don't have adequate street lighting or surrounding traffic lighting lol. If it didn't require me to take off the fairing to install the washers, I would certainly have done it by now. Would make sense to adjust based on rider weight, especially if your rear is soft.

I adjusted mine on the FJR but it's really simple on them. There is a vertical adjustment knob on the dash for each headlight so there's no excuse for not setting them. Did mine at work after hours. I also adjusted my auxiliary lighting so I'm not blinding other traffic.

    Sweet! Looking forward to it.

Just realized I never got around to buying a back protector...probably would be fine without it but I'm gonna scoop one up anyways before the class just to be safe and also to have it for future track days as well.

I'll definitely let you know. Should be able to snag one this weekend but if not, good to know that's an option.

That makes sense to me, too. Most of the night riding I've done has been on well-lit highways and surface streets, where my stock lowbeam had adequate aim. The few times I've been on backroads with little/no lighting, my highbeam has given me enough light to see down the road. My opinion; one should adjust everything possible to accommodate one's riding style... why not the headlight(s) too?

    Right on!
    Nice!
    Cool deal.

Thanks for the input, Guy's. Mucho appreceiate!

The 1st vid here is kinda what I'm talking about. Granted he does have auxiliary lights, and compares the two, but damn sure looks like the stock headlight can be out run in his situation. Now, video and actual in person riding can have different lighting effects to the naked eye. I will go with an added auxiliary light set up. Just need to figure out which one.

One little piece of advice if you don't mind. If you add auxiliary lighting and you're riding on the street, it can be helpful to aim your right side light a few degrees to the right. It doesn't seem to bother oncoming drivers and is a big help for watching for wildlife along the shoulders. I do long distance rallies and it's proven very helpful.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

Also you can always have someone sew a zipper into whatever you have. I have done this many times in the past. It’s actually a part of getting fitted properly for a race suit.

I will post some pics up of my gear for sale soon. And pics of the SM. Only one I have is when it had mx tires one it before I ordered the warp wheels.

I work 3 miles down the road from my house but this morning I decided to ride the Versys on a small loop on the way to work. Worth it!

Holy crap. This makes me feel like I'm getting a steal on the bike at MSRP and some low fees. The place I am buying from quoted me $7999 out the door not including taxes, which I won't have to pay with my SxS trade in. This is some nutjob HD dealership in Lincoln, NE and they are charging way more than that for a used bike. At first I figured there had to be accessories, but I went through all the pics. Nada. Not even the heated grips or the 12V outlet on it. Bone stock.

Right on. Advice, is advice. It’s on me on how I want to use it. Haha. Makes perfect sense on a bike as well. I used to know a guy that ran a 3 light (aux) set up on his Land Rover front bumper when off road. If I remember correctly, it was something like a flood on the left, a spot in the middle for long range and a driving light on the right, to light up the right side of the road. All were pointed straight forward and was damn good at night.
