Then only thing I find fault with is the belt line that is a prime spot for door dings. The belt line also makes the car look good.

Ice Edge is the top of current RAV4 when first launched and also in current TRD Camry.

Yeah the design the hybrid too give more power not to maximize efficiency. That's what they did in the tundra, and I'm guessing the same is true in the Tacoma. That's why it's also in the top of the line "performance" (TRD Pro) models.

Which I think if they could get substantially better mpg then any other midsize it would be a huge win. Have a model that's just focused on efficiency, then the standard 4cly turbo, then the hybrid max option.

 

Correct, up until this point, Iforce has been used on the 5.7 v8 tundra and Twin turbo v6 tundra... but no 4 cylinder variants? Someone prove me wrong!

This is not the Hybrid Max power train. It's mpg numbers have not been released. What you are seeing is a 2.5L hybrid power train

From the press release on Toyotas websit

"the well-balanced 2.4L turbo gas engine, the efficiency-leading 2.5L hybrid with a manufacturer-estimated 34 combined MPG, and the ultimate performance-seeking, 362 horsepower Hybrid MAX."

The closest thing we could use as a hybrid max power train is the 2.4L turbo hybrid in the Lexus RX 500h f sport performance AWD. This vehicle is also heavier then the current Tacoma.

But keep in mind I don't think this is a longitudinal setup. So the hybrid power train in the Tacoma will probably be different(probably like the tundra), and result in different numbers.

I am just saying unless the Tacoma has the 2.5l hybrid we won't see those mpg numbers. Which I'm 95% it's a 2.4l turbo and an2.4l turbo hybrid.

That’s not exactly shocking to predict. Supplier issues have plagued the Lightning and will continue to do so.
