Would like to add a front camera on my 17 sport. Recommendations. Can I use the existing head unit and do you suggest adding a switch that I can turn either one with the switch.

I recently installed this kit. Overall I'm happy with the results. The image quality seems better than the stock rear camera. There's a huge amount of space you can see with the camera that is otherwise hidden behind that huge hood - worse if you have a useless hood scoop

    Some minor gripes:

    - I got hammered on customs fees USA to Canada.

    - There's a lot of extra fiddling with wire connections. For the price it should be true PnP.

    - When turning the front camera off, the rear camera image is displayed for like a 1/2 second. This is sloppy and could have been mitigated in the design.

yea i dont understand why they didnt just solder the wires that needed to be soldered. I also had to extend on of the ground wires to ground to the side of the head unit. I also wish they would have taped or loomed the harness together, because the thing that took me the longest was just containing all the wires so they didnt tangle and so it looks nice. I dont have the issues where the rear image gets displayed when switching

These cameras also work best on the TRD Pro grille. The other stock grilles give people a hard time from what I've heard. I also have the anytime kit and it works great

Also, an installation tip to consider:

Most videos show cutting away some of the plastic on the grill because it's in the way of mounting the camera dead centre. I drilled the hole directly beside this so my camera is ever so slightly off centre. It isn't noticable in the image, and nobody's going to laugh at you because the camera blends into the grill anyway.

I used this mount for my stock trd off road grill. Mounts on existing mounting holes on back side of grill, no need to drill or cut anything

I have a anytime backup camera system too. I have the heritage style grill, not the factory Pro one. I used some kydex sheets to mount it fairly centered in the letters. Lots of fiddling, but I'm happy with it.

I installed the Anytime camera in October. The "upgraded" camera it came with has already died and they company is HORRIBLE at customer service. Literally no response to R4T or to me directly. I bought another $30 camera off Amazon and replaced theirs. Works now but it is a mod I wished I had not bothered installing.

I installed mine back in September, I read that a common failure point is water dripping into the camera housing. I put some silicon in the top to seal it and it’s been working fine.

Did you just seal the whole body essentially?

nah i was lazy. basically just dabbed some silicon in the very top area where the wire comes into the camera body. its not perfect but my truck sits outside in the elements and i've not had any issues.

(minus the ONE time in the burger king drive thru where the camera mirrored/180'd its view on me, but we won't talk about that since it hasn't happened again! )

I went with the germes labs anytime camera. I looked it since it's controlled with the mode button on the steering wheel and didn't need a separate button. It did have some weird side effects with the door locks being delayed to respond. Can't recommend it with the firmware issues, but I'm used to it now.

Do you have a picture of the the cameras POV from this install? I’m wondering myself where is a good angle in the middle as I’m debating if it’ll interfere with the front sensor if mounted centered below the bar of the grill…
