Error message, radar

In dash system says there is an issue with the radar, no real description other than that. Anyone had that experience?

 

Clean the Toyota logo in the grill off. The radar is behind it.

 

Truck is always clean!

 

Is part of your grille guard obstructing the radar?

 

There was a TSB on the radar "garnish" but can't remember which years it covers. Something about moisture getting in and causing electrical problems so they replace the unit and reseal it or something, might want to look into that.

Also, pull the codes to see what it says.

 

Sensor may have vibrated loose. Seen that a few times if it have any movement it'll toss a code

 

Grill guard doesn't cover anything. I'm scheduled with the dealer to let them have it all day Saturday. Still under warranty, only 3500 miles.

 

Ask about the TSB also, dealers don't always "go the extra mile"...

Wonder if that grill guard is getting picked up by the sensor? Even though it is not directly in front it may be sensing something from the side.

 

I did ask the dealer about that, but they said no. I will hopefully find out tomorrow, have to leave the truck with them while they figure it out.

 

Did that error start when the brush grill guard was installed?

I was hesitant when I initially started looking at brush guards.

Of course, I changed grills (Aftermarket Vintage Grill) too so the garnish is now lower than than middle of the grill.

I didn't want to chance it so I moved on.

Unsure, just recently saw it.

 

I've never had issues (knock on wood) with my garnish...before or after grill swap.

Make sure the garnish is clean and that connections to it are secure.

Test is out as well.

I take my Sport out on the highway and put DRCC on as well as LDA.

Adjust the DRCC distance from the button on the steering wheel.

LDA button is also on the steering wheel.

When safe to do so...purposely get out of your lane to verify the LDA is working....both sides of the lane.

Sorry, meant for Ed. I have already done all that I've done all that TacoTime suggested. It's still under warranty, so up to them. Anyone ever heard of a Cobra radar detector interfering?
