I've owned 4 Ford's. All were amazing. 1 still is.
95 F150, 300 I6 manual transmission. It ended up rusting out. Great truck.
96 Tbird. Drive the hell out of that car. Bulletproof driveline. Only issue was a cam sensor. Easy fix.
97 Mark VIII. Only owned it 1 year. Someone ran a red light and t boned me.
98 Mark VIII. Bought it back in 99. Still own it. Has been a race car for most of its life. Very heavily modified. Both drag racing and road courses. Best car I've ever owned. Never had any issues with it considering I beat the crap out of it.

Sad to hear that Fords are crap now.

    Heroic return!

No judgement for trying out the Ford. Every time a new midsize truck hits the market the “experts” (and trolls) declare it as the next great Tacoma-beater.

Real people who use their own paychecks to buy a truck still overwhelmingly choose Tacomas, and generally love them. Funny how it works out that way year after year.

All I can say it was an expensive way to find out that you had a good truck to start with. Now enjoy it as it a beautiful truck no doubt.

Funny how most everyone here has owned a Ford that was complete dog shit. And everyone also ironically has had zero issues with their Tacoma that they’ve driven 400,000 miles. Y’all do know that you don’t get paid by Toyota to advertise right?

I used to be a true blue Ford fan in the 80's and early 90's with my 5.0 Mustang. Since the early 2000s, I have grown to absolutely hate the engineering behind many of their vehicles and engines. Many examples of consumers being screwed by poor engineering. I will never own another Ford.

I bought a Ford because the dealer who had the Toyota I wanted would not sell it to me.

It’s an old platform from Australia. Just updated to be sold in the merican market. The brakes sucked on mine, it had a blend door knocking issue that would probably turn into a bad motor/actuator, a strange ABS issue where turning right the ABS system would sense slippage. It had defective shocks (had to get new bilsteins because I would have headaches after a ride), a faulty transmission that acted bad even after the flash. The 10speed is basically a dual clutch with two 5-speeds slapped on next to each other. anyone who has driven one will notice that the top gears are all really close together. Each gear has its own tune with the turbo for efficiency and power.
ford rants good about this trans and they are putting it in everything. this 10 speed with 3 overdrive gears doesn’t sound accurate for the way that it drives. It feels more like two transmissions combined. It felt like I would be driving two different cars down the road based on the temperature of the engine and outside conditions.
It had Water leaks inside the cabin (1” of water in the drivers side floor pan), the slip yoke of the drive shaft would make constant thumping or crashing sounds when downshifting or coming to a stop.
Btw ford didn’t offer to fix any of this when I mentioned it during normal oil changes.
the Tacoma has had maybe a few defective parts off assembly, but nothing like body welds going bad or defective shocks/struts that ford is having in my opinion. I’ve driven a 1998 f150 v6 4.2l Essex (Canadian) engine standard manual single cab since 08 and I would say I was a ford guy before buying this truck. Heck I still am if there are any of these trucks still on the market. Ford isn’t anywhere where they once were when it comes to building reliable cars.
When it comes to any business succeeding and staying on top, is the have a good QC and MFG plant, and to make sure they are in good communication with one another.
Toyota does this at all costs. They try and make something better overtime whereas ford drops the mic and comes out with something new that the consumers will have to test out.

The Ford straight six was in my opinion the best engine ever made for the real world

Dude, it’s ok that you like Fords. Many of us here, though, would walk before we would run a Ford vehicle. Learned my lesson years ago…only two vehicles to leave me truly stranded wore the blue oval of death. Never again!

Wow what a thread! I imagine on a Ranger forum right now, somebody traded their Ranger for a Tacoma only to trade it back for a Ranger! Then everyone piles on about how shitty the Tacomas are! More than likely though, what really would happen is all the Ranger fan boys would be telling him he should have kept the Tacoma!! :taco:

Fords are pretty bad and the current crop of vehicles they are producing aren't the greatest.

This whole thread reads like something a group of Tesla drivers would post while waiting for their vehicles to charge at public charging stations.

My ford crown Victoria went 411k miles on 10k mile oil changes, was still passing smog and had original engine and trans.

Come on, they aren’t that bad. For example, like this one, if you do them up right they look really nice. All you need is a little fake chrome tape. Make sure you get the top of the bug deflector, fuel door and don’t forget the bottom of the vent visor. Perfection. And, yes, B2500, Ranger. Same thing.
