Does anyone know when Toyota will start releasing info on whether or not they will make major changes to the 2012 Taco? I have googled it and found websites definitely stating it will be a total makeover and others sites state just as adamantly that there will be zero substantial changes.

Not that this is the final say or anything. I bet the biggest change for 2012 is ...1 more new color? a slightly different grill (as usual)?

I think people should have to take a 50 question test to prove their worth. If they fail they get a coupon towards a ford fiesta , and cant buy a tacoma that year.

I really wasn't expecting the info about what changes are coming, as I know it is all speculation, but rather the general time of year or date that Toyota would begin to release the info about any changes.

Bit more than that this time around, from what I've been told it will be pretty much a whole new front end (grille, headlights, hood). Someone described it as having a taller, wider look to the front.

From toyota via FB, it will not be a "next generation" but a "redesign", whatever that means. Also they said that info will be coming in the next few months and that there was a release date of june. That's the closest to toyota gospel that I have gotten.

Gen4 , did someone say gen4? How long after Gen 3?

IMO,i'd rather get a gen2 than a gen3 since the deals might be better at the theoretical gen3 preview .....or pay top dollar on a gen3, you wont be getting a good deal on them if they come out.

it'll take a bit, but i'll wait. won't take that long, unless they hardly build any.

so maybe it's more of a sheetmetal, engine, etc change, not a complete redesign. makes some sense. i wish my toyota contact hadn't retired... but i guess it really doesn't matter since i already bought a first gen!

I read it's a complete redesign, not an update.
That's the only reason I'm holding out...to see what the new ones will look like. Man I wish we'd hear something, anything on this. This is all I have seen.

    From insideline:
2012 Toyota Tacoma: Look for a full redesign of Toyota's compact truck for the 2012 model year.

I've posted this before, but I guess no one believes me. If 2012 was anything other than a very minor update, I would be in San Antonio or Baja Mexico RIGHT NOW with dozens of my co-workers installing new equipment, programming weld robots, and doing production trials. Toyota just nicely got Tacoma production up and running in the truck plant after spending $$$$ moving the equipment from NUMMI to San Antonio. Yes it's due (maybe overdue), but it's NOT the right time for Toyota to do a full redesign. They have too many other new model launches in the works right now. Whippersnapper is only partially correct when he says "NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING". True, no one knows anything about the upcoming fully redesigned Tacoma, but I can tell you for fact it's not happening in 2012. 2012 WILL BE A GEN 2.5
