I’ve had that issue in the past with a junk yard motor for a bronco. I learned after that to always tear it down and rebuild. Love the swap, I’ve been wanting to do this with mine. If you could post some pics of the oil pan and the underside of the truck that would be awesome

Hell yes loved your last build process cant wait to see this my plan a few years down the line is to throw in 6.2 LS3 and either a 6l80E or a TR6060
What you need to learn is a 4l80e is a shit trans compared to the 6l80e you're getting rid of the wrong trans. I have had ls f-body cars heads cam bottle fed always had issues with my high stalled 4l80e and built ones, wound up pulling it for a tr6060. Absolutely love this build, last motor swap was bad too but i was like i wish he did a nice ls. I don't see that many ls swapped tacomas for whatever reason. would love more info and content on it this was my goal in a few years a ls3 and a 6l80e would make for a killer driving truck, great build

You're the only person to say that I should keep the 6l80e. I've talked to several transmission shops, and off-road truck builders and they all say that the 6l80e will grenade pretty quickly because they have a bunch of issues and blow constantly on stock trucks, nevermind abused trucks on 40s. Even "built" ones. I would prefer the gearing of the 6l80e, but want to build something with longevity.

You can buy this 6l80e off me for $600 Canadian dollars!

I need engine mount pics. How did you keep the stock ones with the LS? I guess it's too late for me since I already chopped them off and had custom made ones and getting ready to weld them to the frame. But neat!

and Trans mount? how! did you reuse the oem crossmember or get a universal one?

You're right i am an idiot its been a minute since ive been in the ls scene but i was thinking of a 4l60E which was garbage. I think you're right going with the 4l80 over the 60e. If it was a light offroader or mostly street, the 4l60e is a little bigger trans only downside is gear ratios

I chose the 4L60E... Not one person has said it was a good idea lol. But, I did get the LS6, 4L60E, Torque Converter, and Holley EFI for 5k, so. The 4L60E is built for 900HP brand new from monster transmissions. Haven't heard many good things from them either, but oh well. If it blows, TR6060 is going in.

this is what the engine mount looks like, this was before cleaning it all up and properly painting it this was just a quick coat so it wouldn’t rust, this bolts to the side of the LS and it sits on the Tacomas rubber mount, super easy, and for trans mount I’m using the 6l80s rubber mount on a 3x3 aluminum thick wall square tubing bolted to the factory trans crossmember, once again super easy

I am uncultured and unfortunately don't have the ability to stick metals together beyond soldering. My buddy is gonna come burn them in for me haha.
