I finally decided age is catching up with me and conceded to buy one of those little collapsible wagons to take to the range with me to roll my rifles and ammo to the firing line. One of these days I'll quit swapping optics around so I don't have to tune so many rifles when I go. The closest decent range I've found is about 90 minutes away, so i don't get down there much. A new indoor range opened not to far from me, but the rifle range is only 35 yards, so that's really only good for function checks on new builds and making sure the sights are roughly sighted.

I also picked up a few boxes of CCW ammo SIG developed specifically for the P365. The ballistic gel testing I've seen for it looks promising, even though multiple layers of denim. In one test it left a permanent cavity that looked like a huge drill bit with a near perfect spiral. One of the nastiest wound channels I've seen since the Black Talons.

    I remember Black Talons.

Shot several into phone books, so we could retrieve the bullets. Still have those.

I have a bunch of 9mm and .40 Winchester Ranger LE ammo. It is pretty much Black Talons with a brass case and copper jacket.

I remember Winchester changed the name due to bad publicity. Also dropped the black coating - forget what it was made of.

I still have some .357 Talons...

You may even remember the Black Rhino ammo that was banned before it hit the market. That stuff was nasty. The bullet was made up of compressed polymer shards. The intent was the round would break up when it entered the body and the little shards of polymer were small enough to enter the bloodstream and theoretically shred someone's cardiovascular system from the inside out. Putting that in their marketing material probably didn't help.

It wasn't banned, it was dangerously unsafe to shoot. The pressure was wildly over Sammi spec so it was quietly pulled from the market before someone blew up their gun.

And all the other claims were marketing bunk combined with the classic news misunderstanding of firearms.

Now that you mentioned it, I remember the name - but none of the specifics.

Definitely needed a different marketing plan.

I’ve been wanting to build a 6.5 Jesusmoor PRS gun for a while. Just so damn expensive.
