LED fog lights always on

2022 sr5. Factory LED fog lights are always on unless I completely shut off all lights. They are dim when the actual fog light switch is not engaged and once I turn on the fog lights there is full illumination. Is this how factory fog lights are supposed to be or should they be completely off when the fog light switch is turned to off

 

There's another toggle switch that you can twist to the right of the headlight switch.

 

I know. Even when the fog light switch is off, the fog lights are still on just dimmer

 

They should turn off when you turn off the fog lights. Can you show us a picture of them?
As far as I know, the sr5 did not have LED fog lights as a option. Could they be a dealer add on or aftermarket that are just wired in wrong?

Are they aftermarket fogs that are backlit when not on? Sounds nice.

Can confirm 22 SR5’s have halogen fog lights. Check on here for take off led’s for sale. It’s how I got mine.

 

I'd guess aftermarket LEDs that are improperly wired.

 

Some SR5 vehicles from the Southeast distributor region have port installed fog lights that also function as a DRL.

 

Those port installed fog lights are not Toyota parts. Ask me how I know.

When I was looking for a Tacoma here in Virginia I ran across an off-road that had been a transfer from a Georgia dealer up here. I looked at the truck at a dealer about 40 mins south of me. The salesman had gone to get it when the manager told me that there was an additional $10k added for market value. I turned and walked out. When I walked out the truck was sitting there running with the salesman behind the wheel. I noticed that the fog lights were on and very dim. After explaining to him that I wasn’t interested and why I checked out the window sticker as he was shutting the truck off. Sticker clearly stated South East Toyota and added option was fog lights for I think I remember 495 bucks. Also had paint protectant bed lights fabric protectant cables all weather floor mats and bed liner. I remember because the bed liner was almost twice what you could but one for.

It was after that I learned about southeast Toyota. When I actually bought mine in West Virginia I asked about those dim fog lights at the dealership. They laughed immediately and said that’s a southeast Tacoma. When I asked about it all they would say between smirks was the one that they had come through was a mess.
