I just got an email and saw the Tacoma Lifestlye 3rd Brake Light Replacement. That’s the first time I have seen it. Has anyone purchased this product? It looks like a really cool upgrade and really not that expensive. $80. Curious on others thoughts on it?

I actually like that one, not sold on the "hyper flash" thing, but the rest seems pretty decent. Would like to see some reviews from others though.

Yeah i love the looks of it. Good thing is you can turn the hyper flash off if you don’t want and just use the normal setting.

Yep I think they are. I think this would just provide more of a cosmetic upgrade. Also gives you the option of having it flash a few times when you first press on brakes. Looks to be much brighter than the stock one as well.

I just like that its not clear/white. My truck being inferno looks weird with red tail lights and a white 3rd brake light

There is work involved in replacing the stock unit (there is also a recall). I much prefer the MESO options… BD or KC which allow you to do you.

Every time they have come in stock, I add it to my cart, then go look at how much it is going to cost me to put lights in it.... thats when I close the window and go do something else. I wand the bd5, so its a extra $300 just to put in the lights.

The cost of having 5 BD lights… it’s not @MESO s fault those are so damn expensive.
I like the KCs, but 1st Gen lenses are QC nightmares. Hopefully 2nd Gen Pods are better.
Wishfully thinking the HexPods will appear one day…

oh I know, I dont blame meso for the price of the lights, but I need the lights to make the brake light work. I too hope the hexpod works out soon. But I also hope the hexpod is not like his turn signals or tail lights with microcomputers to control them. My needs for lights require direct plug in to get my strobe systems to work properly. With the hex, I need white, red, and yellow (strobe)

I like the look of that.
Having done the Meso version on my last Taco, I can tell you that the headliner is a total PITA. I ended up removing the thing from the outside.

I put in the Meso molle roof rack... so not sure i'm gonna pull all that out again :)

Looks like the light can be done without taking down the headliner. You just have to go in through the back window.

Don't think so.... in watching the video, he still pulls down the headliner... actually recommends you have two people so you can have one hold it down.

one of the reviews mentioned one person bent the headliner.

It can be done without totally pulling the headliner. I replaced mine with the MESO molle rack still installed. It requires some patience but is definitely possible. It helped that I have a Diamondback bed cover and was able to lay on it and work through the back window. My opinion is the upgrade isn’t worth the trouble.

The install video was helpful but he cut out some some details, also what if you have the recall done. The trim plate needs to go back on better than what he did in the video. The video of the install looks like a leak waiting to happen.
