In this case it was tax exempt, so no stamp, but that is a good point.

BATFE is (supposed to be) limited on what they can and can't do electronically so I bet the signature was actually with pen and the date was a stamp. I used to work in an office that processed a ton of paperwork and we had a bunch of these things around:

    https://www.amazon.com/Trodat-Printy-E4820-Economy-Self-inking/dp/B004HY49KW

Check it at the start of the day and you didn't have to worry about accidentally writing the wrong date for the rest of the day.

Absolutely typed into the PDF and not a stamp.

I'll chime in and suggest buying a stripped lower and a rifle kit from Palmetto State. It's a good way to get a decent AR for around $450-$500 and you learn a bit about the platform when putting it together. If you don't want to dive into the deep end of building your own (it can become an addiction), the offerings from S&W, Ruger, etc. should serve you fine and a ready to shoot option shouldn't cost much more than building a kit.

They have a lot of good deals. Just got a complete upper for $325. They have some complete lowers for as low as $135ish

Unity riser for the 512C. Without it and using a c clamp grip I could see my thumb in the window lol.

I put together several absolutely basic M4 pattern rifles using Bear Creek Arsenal parts on Aero Precision lowers fitted out with a Stag Arms LPK, which have surprisingly good triggers for the money. I just sold my 7.62x39 and a 5.56 for more than I had into them. Good, reliable budget rifles that never failed to function.

If you're building one completely (rather than just buying a complete upper and complete lower), aside from gun parts you'll want a 1/4" clevis pin for installing the pivot pin, a decent set of roll pin punches, and an armorer's wrench. If you're going to get into it a nice armorer's wrench is a good investment. If you're doing 1 or 2 a Tapco wrench is probably good enough, just have to use a little extra caution because they're prone to slipping.
