Made some beefy ramps and then reapplied WoolWax after two years. Aside from a couple of small spots, zero rust and only needed a light touch up. Such an easy worthwhile task that takes less than an hour.

Yup. And I’m glad I’m not the one driving it. I don’t like it.
    1) Too big for my taste.
    2) The seat squeaks something fierce.
    3) The door panel sounds like it’s going to shatter if you play music with any bass in it.
    4) CarPlay volume is inaudible. It’s a known bug and has no fix.
    5) In sport mode, it continues to accelerate for about 1 second after letting up on the throttle.
    6) It has rough engagement of the hybrid battery system in stop and go traffic.

However, there is one good thing about it. It’s made me love my Taco more and I have zero desire to replace it now.

Much better than the ones I made, but I was going minimal with 2x4s and only required a few inches. 10 inches off the ground with only 12 in wide seems scary. 8 ft 2x12, 3 of them (6 for the pair) ... local says $20 each. I might go only 3 levels ... one 2x12x12 which is $30. Add layers if I want.

    I know wood ... rookie mistake 2x is 2 in ... 1.5 thick

Quick rework ... 7.5 in off the ground ... 2x12x10 each side ... 3 layers not enough so 5 needed ... $25 each side.

Almost pulled the same trigger but went with the Taco instead. Curious, what did and didn’t you like about the Tundra?

For me it was just too big, gas guzzler, and honestly the looks just wouldn’t grow on me. I guess I’m just a Tacoma guy.

Got it. Loved my 1st and 2nd gen Tundras. Heck, the Taco I have now has about the same dimensions as the 1st gen, but at 235K trouble-tree miles it was time. 2nd gen at 150K was great too. No experience with the 3rd gen or brand new Tundras though.

    Loving this Taco now. :D

The only negative to these….heavy as hell, but they only need to move a few feet so it’s worth it. That extra height is awesome. I’m very tempted to make another set to have the whole truck up that high/level for doing other maintenance.

The bonus to these self-built is that unlike the plastic ones relying on the engineering of the cells to hold up, it will take more than 6000 lbs point-load to crush solid pine.
