Funny how most OR drivers feel this way. I'm stoked on my Trail and I'm pretty sure that's all that matters...

To sell trucks. The TE looks like a tough offroad truck out of the box. The OR looks samo samo and needs modding to look cool. The Trail Edition has the cool factor without the Pro price.

    Like, so many.
But wouldn’t you be equally stoked with an OR? Like, what question is it answering?

Don't know if it's been mentioned (I couldn't find in this thread) but a big difference (in my opinion) between TRD OR/Pro and non-OR/Pro versions is the rear diff ring gear size. The OR/Pro has a 8.75" ring gear whereas the standard ring gear is only 8". I don't know that Trail Edition doesn't have the 8.75" ring gear but my bet is it doesn't. The larger ring gear adds quite a bit of durability for 4 wheeling in my opinion.

That was because the first year it basically only came with those ridiculous bed boxes.

I like them all, but I don;t need a locker, crawl control and never will. Those old days of wheeling are over so I went with the Sport and I think that is all I need but when its time to replace my truck I will buy the Pro, add some 285s and call it the day!

I looked into this previously, the rear diff is the same 8.75 as the OR and Pro since the TE also has a locker and has the same rear diff code.

Probably not, the only upside to the OR for me was LED headlights and remote start. The TE simply checked more boxes for me vs the OR.

Depending on your purpose, I don't think it has less. Its just spec'd differently and simply can't be compared equally. My goal was to drive off the lot needing minimal changes.

The Trail is a nice package that includes many of the features that a “mid-level” off-road user would like (the small lift, locking diff) while eschewing the fancier gizmos that really don’t get used that often. The cosmetic and functional upgrades are nice, and it is very much ready to take the family on a remote-ish camping trip right off the lot.

I can see why it is a popular choice. I think if it came with some All-terrain 265/75R16C tires 99% of owners wouldn’t make a single upgrade. (Except maybe the gas cap holder)

Hmmm....you must be referring to 2021 before they added the rear Locker, real offroad wheels, full technology package with navigation, premium sound system, push button start and leather wrapped steering wheel . The only thing left was bilteins, which I threw on right after buying it.

I wanted a 21 TE but was too late in the year to find one and the 22's were more so went with an OR

Off-road is really the better choice. It’s cheaper / around the same price as the trail edition. Yeah the trail edition may look slightly better, but the off-road you get more features. I’m not a fan of the ugly white headliner, cheap lift, lack of fog lights, and lack of LED’s on the trail edition.

it was desirable somewhat with the wheels, black interior, creme de mint color, and the baby lift.....but those boxes could gag a maggot

Like I said, depends what you’re looking to get out of it, the only real downside was LED headlights. The TE does have power seats

dont think in 2021 they did but what were you wanting in a TE that the OR doesn't have?

OR for me, I don't use that crazy crawl control very often, but when you need it it's there. I couldn't get an access cab in TE as for OR with chrome bumper caps, not available in Canada

Funny thing is, this was my previous rig. I opted no locker and to save money and "adult." Just a small lift and some bigger tires to "make her mine." Eventually got into buncha places where I needed a locker lol. 10yrs later, I opted for the locker. Still haven't used it in her 6k miles but it's nice to have it when I need it and she's seen more dirt, snow and sand in her first few k then the last 100k on my old rig.
Funny thing I didn't really "plan" to off road or do any obrolanding, just thought a truck; I spend less money and time on mods versus a car. What a poor but geat decision lol.
