Taco Violated By Homeless Guy 1 Month After Paint. PDR Rec?

To me, this could be the way to get this person some help if they need it..and I'd suspect they do given this action.

 

These are all very solid and sound responses. I’ve seen my fair share of mental illness and have responded to many calls where that was the issue. I wish that our health care system did more than just monitor for 24-48 hours then release after a talk with an over worked apathetic councilor that listens to hundreds of cases a day.

What I was referring to is the multitude of comments promoting violence against the individual. Where as the OP clearly has a better head on his shoulders.

 

If the guy is mentally ill and not just being a jack hole, sure. But if he is just a prick and blames society for his current state and is just lashing out because somebody has something nice (it happens plenty), then he needs his ass kicked. Both solutions are correct, it just depends on what the situation is.

 

Sure, beat a guy who already blames society for his problems, because that’s going to straighten him out and not send him further down the hole to the point he starts attacking people, killing them. But what do I know? There absolutely is a time and place where beating someone’s ass is warranted (putting hands on your wife or kids being the top for me) but this situation? Not a warranted response.

 

This is why I moved from the city to the mountains far from civilization.

 

So you view responding with an ass kicking as a trigger for him to escalate rather than a deterrent, and I view doing nothing as emboldening if not encouraging the bad behavior. Both could be a catalyst for him becoming a bigger problem, essentially. For sake of discussion, lets say this isn't a mental illness issue, but just an asshole issue. IMO the ass kicking at least carries the potential to deter. Doing nothing won't help at all, and calling police might just reinforce the "victim of society" mentality. What do we? How do we solve this guy's issue?





As I ask that my heart softens a bit and I feel compassion. Maybe the guy just needs a hand, or a friend. Forgiveness goes a long way, but only this guy can change his situation. I'd suggest trying to help or ministering to him as a Christian, but these days that's likely to illicit more violence and hate. People seem to think the offer to share is some attempt to preach at or judge. I shouldn't, but I can't help but lose faith in humanity and that leads me back to wanting to be a prickly enough target that these kinds of people move on.

Okay, for sake of discussion, you administer physical discipline, some one sees this and calls the cops for an active assault. Now you are charged not only with assault but a hate crime because the gentleman in question is “experiencing homelessness” you’re charged with aggravated assault, losing your job, not to mention the public attorney will take the homeless guys case and sue you for attacking the individual.

On the flip side, if you contact the authorities and present the evidence the individual will be taken off the streets and possibly get some help sorting out his anger towards society as a whole.

Which is why I would contact the authorities, as previously stated. I'm speaking a bit more old school. People were more courteous when they could get punched for being assholes. Used to be when a prick beat on his wife he would get a visit from all the other men in her life and learn that it wasn't something he should ever do. Now, those guys would be charged and the wife beater would go free.

In the current state of things, the only option is to file the report and hope for the best.

Agreed. In Cali if you call the cops saying a homeless guy is trashing your shit they won’t come.

 

Perhaps, to build upon the reporting side, the person is already known to law enforcement. Perhaps not.

Either way, despite the sometimes lax consequences for actions like this person who damaged OP's truck, if enough complaints against this person happen it will come a time where something will have to be done by the system. Perhaps the local authorities are not aware at all of this person and would be happy to do something about this.

 

Dang Brad! That’s terrible man. From the looks of it a good pdr guy should be able to make it mostly disappear, but some of the scratches will still be there. Good news is that the back of that panel is easy to get to with the inner door card removed. I think the door speaker almost lines up with it too so pulling the speaker with give you a giant hole to work through.
