What is the best carrier bearing option for the factory suspension for an 06 4x4 manual transmission these days? Im thinking spicer but rock auto has several different types.....what say ye?

    OE. Rock auto has them
This is not a part that gets beat on and rocked around when we are out wheeling around.
    OEM or equivalent would do

OEM was Spicer....there is more than one Spicer bearing listed on rock auto...I was just wondering what others have used.

I haven’t used the Spicer on my truck.
But when it’s due for one. It will get a Spicer.

don't get the $20 Amazon special its holding up, but the rubber is way to soft. when you jump on the gas a but you can feel it vibrate super hard, just haven't climbed up under again because I don't want to pull the drive line again.

I have the SKF one from Rock Auto on my truck. No complaints; SKF typically has quality products.

If you want OEM, just see what the PN is for your year/model truck and get the appropriate Dana one on RockAuto that says it replaces the correct Toyota PN.

Just to be clear since you have the 4wd the Spicer PN 5002007 is what you want. I went through the shenanigans with the spicer carrier bearing part numbers before. I'd definitely recommend sticking with OEM.

Just had my driveshafts shortened. The driveshaft guy much preferred the 2wd version. Said he found them to last a lot longer since they did not have the oring and kept the heat down.

This is good to know, I figured the 4wd versions having the oring would be beneficial to them. If I ever change mine again I will give it a go.

I still ended up giving him a 5002007 4wd version.

    Just some stuff...
I went with spicer years ago. Timken is also a good brand.

I just ordered the spicer...along with a new sun visor... everything should arrive by Wednesday.... which of course means I won't be able to turn a wrench on it till Friday night.... hopefully I don't have nearly as rough a time with getting the drive shaft off as the last time I did this job.

For a 4x4, spicer ford ranger (of the proper year) CB flipped with spacers. Same thing as IELDS ranger cb.

If you have the money, look into a one piece Tom woods driveshaft. Makes the truck way more responsive and never need to replace the CB ever again
