The ProPoint batteries in 35, 24F, and 27F sizes are all vented batteries which can leak acid at steep angles encountered off-road. I've had ProPoint and Walmart EverStart vented batteries spill acid just transporting them in the footwell of a car.

Go with a sealed AGM battery. Motomaster is good. You may also be able to find Energizer-branded AGM batteries at CostCo.

Not sure if it changed but there is an extra price for the longer warranty. I had my auxiliary battery with the longer warranty since it was only being charged by a solar panel at the time. Add in a few bad wiring issues (my fault) and I used every bit of that warranty multiple times. Worked out.

I have the Optima AGM and it lasted 2 years so I'm skeptical now of AGM after reading of others having not having long term success with them.
Who here uses AGM as single battery?

when i had my tj I though it was better to have a yellow top. It was a while ago but I think it lasted something like 2 years also. A couple of years ago our busses started coming with agm batteries. We pulled them all out and replaced them with lead acid. Fast forward to today were now replacing the led acid batteries with agm. The difference that i see is all the replacements are a brand called odyssey. The price will wake you up in the morning but back in the day they used to boast that you can shoot a hole through them and they will still operate....
    actually not a bad price

I've been using single Optima Red since 2015. I replace it preemptively every 5 years.

Yeah those are supposed to be good quality but 3 to 4 times pricey.

I thought it was a great battery, lot of power for what I need. I thought it was 2yrs but it's been 3 and just passed the warranty. Maybe the truck doesn't like Optima, kind of like how some zodiac signs don't get along.

I have never looked back. No one ever sits back there, and I got so tired of the constant clutter that formed back there.

I said the same thing. Had been talking about doing it, then ended up pulling them out for the dog and instantly regretted not doing it earlier.

thats a nice setup. What carpet did you use?
And are you able to access the factory storage areas?

The Red Top is not marketed as a deep cycle battery. If you use the outlets often (for the fridge, power tools, etc.) with the engine off, the Yellow Top is more appropriate.

Have you done the mod to bump the alternator voltage to more AGM-friendly levels? That'll allow the battery to charge to 100%.

Just found out about that mod recently.
The fridge is the only thing used overnight with the engine off and that's only when camping. Would using the winch cause it to draw down and cause issues?

Thank you. I think it was called hardware fabric, it's basically just a durable felt material.
Yes can still access the factory storage areas. The drills in the second picture are actually in them.

Your engine is running when you use the winch, right? Then it shouldn't drain the battery much.

You've heard of cardboard-aided design, now get ready for calendar-aided design :cookiemonster: Copied the RokBlokz XL design using Husky P/N 17049 trim-yourself flaps:

    AMWts8DgiluVKlEcxhIMJdSq898LEFl_ZAC154Ut_1addf8818a6ea9204f7b4abfbe3e2f8d9334db8f.jpg AMWts8D6nPmETE3z4msTsYsWAzCrXjw6lZNqqVbT_7c6f7fd580e5884bbf896327178beddf0d5e99c4.jpg

Lower mount is a Hillman P/N 851147 L-bracket painted black and installed to the cab mount with a Hillman P/N 880511 threaded rubber expanding well nut:

Next I tried removing the running boards. Unfortunately 3 of the 6 weld nuts inside the body broke and spun with the mounting bracket bolts. I will have to visit a shop and have the bolts liquified with an oxyacetylene torch.
