How about a pic of the other side? Curious if they come up further to protect the Cat more.

Installed the gen 2 today, shown with RCI tranny skid plate. I was running the RCI shields, but they didn't cover the cats as much as I'd like mounted to my older version of the skid plate. The driver's side didn't align quite right, so I had to screw the security screws in first, then floor jack the rear, inboard corner up, and tighten the cross member bolts while jacked. I do wish an adapter plate was included for folks not running the support bars. The included washers were too small for the opening, and larger washers would be too big and would overlap. May have to find large washers and grind a side down to fit.

The only difference that I noticed is the bend where I circle it. Everything else is the same.

Thanks. The pic was deceiving with the angle of the shields.

I received our v2 (v2.1?) catalytic converter replacement shields yesterday and put the driver's side on this morning. Decided to just do the driver's side since the v1 passenger side wasn't causing any problems (no rattles and clears the catalytic converter). All went fine. I followed @CaliRaisedLed Chris' updated DIY video and although a tiny bit fiddly to get it all lined up, everything worked out great. Completed it all while it was flat on the garage floor.

The latest version clears the catalytic converter completely - plenty of room to circulate the air around it and there are no rattles or issues that I can see or hear.

For me, and based on Chris' video, the key with the v2 was to install the end that attaches to the transmission mount bolts loosely and do the same with the crossbar security bolts, then tighten up the security bolts, then the transmission crossmember bolts, then the inner two crossbar bolts. Once everything was snugged down it was good to go.

Like @dietcokefiend, I opted to use the OEM transmission cross member bolts rather than the new ones with washers since the OEM bolts already have collars.

I did have a big "ah, son of a... gun" moment after I thought that I was all done. I forgot to install the little rubber bumper at the end of the shield that snugs up against the frame. :annoyed: So I loosened everything up (didn't remove anything) and managed to squeeze the bumper in-between the shield and the frame and with the help of a little flat blade screwdriver, it popped into place. Phew! Tightened it all up again and, done!

In the end the new version not only fits better, but is easier to install.

So many thanks to all the folks at Caliraisedled for the excellent customer service and standing solidly behind their product. At this point I can highly recommend them!

This has been my experience with @CaliRaisedLed as well. There may be a hiccup or an issue, but they have been friendly and worked to a resolution each time. My issue was with another product being damaged and having burrs from machining/CNCing and I didn't want replacements. I just wanted to be assured they were going to take steps to prevent it in the future, and they were super open about measures they implemented and processes they were using to ensure future orders went out in better shape. The responsiveness and transparency made me a happy customer for their fabbed products.

thanks for the update! I get mine in tomorrow as well so hopefully it’ll go as smooth as yours did! I was thinking the same of just changing out only the driver side since the passenger side is okay. So you just have one v1 driver shield and one v2 passenger side shield? Hahah

IMG_8830.jpg I don’t think this one will helped, but like I noted on the first one the only difference is on the bend when placed one on top of the other there is a 3/16” difference. Everything else looks the same.

Might still be the pic but looks like V2.1 has a higher upsweep in the red circles portion.

Shout to @CaliRaisedLed for the quick shipping with the updated cat shields! I installed just the driver side like how @TRDRed stated. The passenger side wasn’t touching so I just left it. Good thing I ended up switching them out because I noticed my driver side cat was starting to make a mark from where the cat shield was touching the actual catalytic converter. Thankfully I work at an oil change spot so I can just go in the pit and replace the shields but I don’t think you need to lift the truck up. I told Cali raised about the situation and they shipped me out new ones and came a week later. Now I have one V1 and one v2 cat shield haha

Well, I tried to do the right thing and had my wife return the “defective” V2 shields with the hardware while I was deployed for a week (with my truck sitting at the airport garage, which is why I was hoping to install them in the first place)

They sent me a label right away to return them and I didn’t want to wait for a week until I returned to ship it back.

Well the new one showed up yesterday and the hardware was not included. Now I’ll say CaliRaised has been quick to correct issues thus far, but it’s still kind of a mess.

So, I installed V2 driver's side yesterday and ran into a potential problem. It was very difficult to get the shield in place using the new procedure in the video. Installing the security screws even with the plate loosely in place on the trans crossbar was almost impossible. After pushing it over as much as I could I got one of the security screws in place and then the second. My issue now is that the forward corner is almost touching the driveshaft. @TRDRed, how close is yours to the driveshaft if you don't mind looking? You can see that the slot the security screws fit into was pushed all the way back, so I didn't have any more room to move it back at all.

I'm pretty bummed since everyone else is getting the V2 installed using the new video and am not wanting to get V2.1 and go through the whole process again. Plus, I don't want to be throwing these away! I'm already planning on tossing V1 out and don't want to toss out another set.

Just put on the V2 shields, no rattles and no issues.

How close to the driveshaft does yours sit?

I’ll have to check. I was more worried about rattles.

Thanks! Yeah, I was worried about rattles too, then I looked and thought it was touching the driveshaft. One of the 'knuckles" on the driveshaft has about an 1/8th clearance and the other has 1/16th. To me, that is way to close, but what do I know.

I’m going to have to pull mine off for inspection. The rattle/vibration is too much lately with window down weather we are experiencing.

Drove it about 15 miles through city streets this morning and didn't hear anything. But, like the cats, the driveshaft will flex independently of the frame (and the shields), so I can see where that could be a problem being that close. Can you post a photo showing where the shield is mounted to the two bolts on the transmission crossmember like the one I posted earlier? Curious how much difference there is since it's somewhat adjustable where there's less "forgiveness" at the crossbar where the security bolts go.

I will try and get under it later today and let you know, maybe post a couple of photos of the shield's proximity to the drive shaft. Raining today so need to let it dry off a bit since I already took a shower. ;)
