Anyone here have a bed cargo organizer they like or anything? Looking to make my bed more practical for around town and small camping trips.

My gf has a 2013 Avalon and the 3.5 in it is impressive. It’s faster than my old WRX, and in those years it’s apparently pretty dead reliable, up there with the 1UZ even.

For some reason the 2GR-FKS variants appear to have more issues in the 3G Tacomas however. There’s a whole thread on them having cracked heads and burnt valves, which I found very suprising. Maybe they’re just lemons though.

Bed slide is the bomb for me, but if I didn't have a roof tent I'd rock a decked setup

Have you ever watched a video of winch truck racing over in the UK? It looks so miserable.

As long as the hook isn't rusty

only a true malcontent would allow their rope hooks to get rusty.

I’d definitely look for a Lexus LS with a UZ if I were getting a sedan from that era. They used to be dirt cheap even just a few years ago, but then people realised they were bulletproof.

They’re good for what they are. But the time has caught up and past them. Supercharged manual ones are fun though

It isn't right, it can't stand. They must be removed and blasted then coated in 14kt gold. They must shine.

@Ozark_RegCab I mean this in the nicest way but you are the most indecisive person I've ever talked to with the exception of my former co-worker.

You'd be through one set of tires by now with the many times you've talked about tires.

He was the same way about a lot of things; he'd get an answer about something from a knowledgeable and reliable source, only to "double" or even "triple" check with many other not-so-knowledgeable sources because it was in his nature to question everything. He would nitpick a lot of stuff and make the smallest concerns larger than they ever should be.

The FKS is cursed with oiling issues in the head because it was designed as a FWD engine. There’s a fix. But it involves modifying the head with drain backs

My mr2 with the FE also has the issue, but being transverse, the pooling at the back of the right side head is only an issue in high G turns and leads to a 15psi oil pressure drop.

Fwd application FKS, the biggest issue, like the FE is leaking timing covers. Which aren’t super common, but not uncommon

Fun fact: they don’t rust if they get used often enough

Did you ever run those Camry cams or the crank. I saw a 3VZ-FE the other day and was like... Maybe I should snag that. The engine was complete so for $150 I'd probably just buy the whole thing.

I confirmed they fit. Have not tested operation yet. I keep meaning to measure them. The duration is 1 degree more that a 5vz cam. I can’t remember if it was intake or exhaust, but I don’t know if they have a lift difference

Yes I definitely suffer from paralysis by analysis. I’d even say it’s my greatest weakness.

I'll check it out. I kind of ruled out Decked since I still want the depth and I still carry thousands of lbs in concrete/pavers/gravel from time to time
