    That's a fascinating subject that I'm way too drunk to expand upon. Suffice it to say you can doo cool things with a standalone ECU and VTEC when you have a turbo.

    @Ozark_RegCab

    All my Nissan love is with pre-Renault models. Over the top engineering that drove the company into bankruptcy. I didn't care if they made any money. I think 1998 was the best year. By 1999 they were starting to feel the pain. There might be a couple of models with some Prince Motor Company ancestry still around. But those are fading fast.

    Although, he'd buy that $5k motor when it was broken down to rebuild for a DIY motorbike only to throw it under a tarp on a shelf at work never to be seen again...possibly above or below his truck's uninstalled leaf pack :burp:

    Hm, yea I had heard about Carlos Ghosn and others running the company into the ground after the 90s. It seems like they're starting to turn things around with their new lineup though.

    I'm running into issues removing the upper plenum from the engine bay. I've removed all the bolts and have it flipped over to access the 3 tubes on the throttle assembly underneath. I've managed to get 2 of the 3 tubes disconnected at one end but the third I can't disconnect from the throttle body assembly (actually two of them feel like they're glued onto the throttle bottle assemble but the other I was able to disconnect from the other end -- see binder clip). The stubborn one is closer to the cockpit and I can't access the clamp on the lower end that feeds into the engine but removing the clamp on the throttle body assembly hasn't made it any easier to detach the hose on that juncture. Any advice here? Picture attached, hose is going to the right of the underside of the throttle body assembly

    Grab them with some pliers and twist, they just get stuck after years of not being disturbed

    The management before "Le Cost Cutter" over-engineered everything without regard for whether it would be profitable. They wanted the cars to be fast and technically over the top thinking if they build them the customers will come. Some did but not enough to make money.

    Talk about a wild engine design to cut your teeth on. It used RTV instead of gaskets.

    I liked his management style. He continued to fund the GTR through lean times. It was just unfortunate that he misused company funds for his own personal benefit. When someone starts to think they have become king and starts flying in rarified air, that's when gravity pulls them back to Earth.

    I don't think that's the point. The jr drags are like mini top fuel with a single cylinder engine. Make a terrible racket but great learning tools for kids on the strip

    So guys, I'm thinking 4x Innovations sliders with DOM+square main and Coastal Offroad high clearance rear plate bumper w/receiver hitch. Any qualms?

    Good parts, for sure. Where's your intercooler gonna go. And in my experience you won't need the DOM

    Stock bumper in front.

    Idk, I watch their compare vid and it seemed convincing enough. Small bend at 6" with the HREW and nearly nothing with the square main + DOM after 12". $95 extra seems worth the peace of mind

    I'm a fan of 4xI's stuff. Always liked the simplicity of their rear bumper as well. I get wanting the higher clearance and side protection of the Coastal though.

    I'd like the 4xI rear bumper instead but it's basically the same price with no side protection
