I went with the N2 Design & I couldn’t be happier. It’s all plug & play, fairly simple to install. I really love having the remotes to lock & unlock it. It was really a pain to unlock with the key since the truck doesn’t have a keyhole on the passenger side. Probably won’t use the remote start much but it’s nice to have it.

I feel the exact same way. Not at least having a lock cylinder on the passenger side drives me crazy. Just as bad as not having intermittent wiper’s until I fixed that. Can I ask you how long you have had it installed. Im always a little worried about aftermarket alterations. Also how big is the key fob. Looks a little large in pictures. Did it require splicing the tpms wire? Thanks much.

Funny thing, I also switched out the wiper stalk to an intermittent one, that was one of the first mods I did with this truck…
As for the N2 kit, I’ve had the kit about a month now and it’s working great. The range is fantastic! The remote is pretty much the standard size compared to OEM. The remote makes a beep sound when you press a button too. My truck didn’t have a piezo alarm so I installed one that I found on Amazon. There’s a plug towards the front of the truck near the battery that needs to be cut off to splice a piezo alarm to.

Oh & I did not cut any wires for the TPMS.
You can also buy a device with the kit that allows you to use your phone to start the truck. I didn’t purchase it but I could always get it later on.

Thanks much. I'm highly considering the N2. On a side note, if you haven't done so, here are my videos on adding rear speakers.

Thanks much. I read a bunch of threads and watched a video on the N2 Install. I kept hearing a reference to having to splice one wire that is for TPMS in order for the remote start to work correctly. Here is the quote from another user regarding TPMS. Not sure if you experienced this.

"After you cut the TPMS it routes through a relay contact in the remote start. It remains connected 99% of the time. When the truck is remote started, it opens the TPMS circuit so that your key fob can unlock the door... For some reason, if the TPMS wire remains connected during the remote start cycle, the doors will not unlock from the fob"

Interesting - This was my dad's truck originally, and he always bought completely stripped down Toyota trucks. it is also a 2018. Perhaps you had a package or something I am missing that added the rear speakers.

Yea I saw a bunch of their vids on YouTube but was confused on that topic. I followed the instructions that came with the kit & it all worked fine without messing with the TPMS. (For my truck anyways)
You will have to splice it if you have a manual I think though.

I bought this used from a lot almost 2 years ago so the original owner might have got the upgrade, not sure.

Mine is auto. If it only affects unlocking the doors after using remote start, I will probably skip cutting the wire. I am more interested in remote unlock versus remote start, and I would rather not cut wires if I can avoid it. Thanks again for all the info.

So, OP. Your Access cab has TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)?

Hmmm...So I venture to say that all that you'd require is a pair of FOB's programmed. Anyone with a screenshot of the Techstream page of fob programming could assist ya.

Could it really possibly be that simple? You’re thinking the truck has everything built in accept a fob?

I appreciate all your input. Unfortunately I am mechanical enough to replace parts with a set of instructions, but all this has my head spinning. I’m not sure what parts I have or don’t have. All I know is the only way I can currently open my doors is with a key on the drivers side. So I feel like an aftermarket solution like the n2 is my last hope. At least I can follow the instructions and videos that are available for that system.
If my car had all the other factory receivers, I could program a fob. Beyond that I’m tapped out.

I installed an N2 Designs in my truck about 3 years ago, not one issue with it. I did not have to cut any wires to install. I have the 2.7L with the standard key. I would highly recommend it. I also installed the OEM remote tailgate lock kit which can be locked and unlocked with the N2 unit.

I really appreciate the feedback. It’s good to hear from someone. Who’s had that device installed for a decent amount of time without incident. I’m probably gonna end up going that way.
