I am also having difficulties installing mine.

I have all connections correct…I believe.

When I have the rear turned on, I see my rear camera and the light for the rear comes on. When I reverse, the camera works.

When I turn on the front camera, the screen is still black and both lights on the switch come on. And after I installed this, my TSC and check engine lights are on.

if anyone has any ideas, that would be great.

I'm in the process of diagnosing an issue with the backup camera. Ever since I installed the anytime backup up camera the actual rear camera would work sporadically(it's been about 9 months). Yesterday it didn't work at all until the end of the day. Front camera that was added works every time. Checked all connections near tailgate and everything looks ok. Going to unplug all anytime connections behind the HU today and see if it works without...

I had issues with 2 kits. One kit unfortunately became experimental and I cut some wires… the second kit I resolved the black screen or flickering screen by figuring out that the relay had literally 1 strand of ground being connected in with the rca wires from the ground sheathing/wires… it’s the 3 black cables going into the relay underneath the heat shrink tubing… they have a ground sheathing within them that are supposed to be wrapped together then grounded out… so before my last efforts, I noticed one strand of ground the was plugged into the relay connector for the reverse rca cable… it immediately worked when I snipped it and now the rear camera works perfect… along with the front. Lots of bumpy off-roading and about 700 miles driven and no issues… Hopefully this helps. Try wiggling the relay box to see if that changes anything or cut the heat shrink carefully to investigate for any rogue ground wires being plugged in with the rca’s.

    Thanks. Saving this!

I took everything off yesterday and the backup camera worked perfectly in reverse. After reinstalling all harnesses all is well now. I will go back in there and look for the above the next time I have this issue(hopefully not!).

Old post here but seeing if anyone can help.
I installed the front camera a few months ago. Was working fine in the beginning but lately my front camera works sometimes and sometimes when I switch to front it just gives me a black screen. When I switch to rear my rear camera works every time no issues there it’s just the front.

Black screen - no video input. Maybe cheap relay quit, camera quit.
Disconnect the 3 way RCA pigtail attached to the relay, connect front camera directly to Head Unit Input having only that camera the sole source of video. Test the video while vehicle transmission in reverse, then with switch of anytime reverse signal input to the Head Unit. This would test the front camera video output.

I’m glad I found this thread. I installed the front camera and kit in my 2022 Tacoma last year. Sporadically, but more frequent than not, I will get a black screen when placing the truck in reverse. If I toggle the switch a few times between the front and rear camera, I can usually get the screen to render. The front camera works normally about 95% of the time, whereas the reverse is more 50/50. I will take a look at some of the suggestions, but I’m glad I’m not the only one who has had some of these issues.

    Which kit did you buy?

I got one from R4T and haven’t installed it yet.....just wanted to know if I should contact them before installing it.

Here is my update on the issue. The kit I bought pretty much stopped working completely. My rear camera was always fine just the front that I bought. So I ended up buying just the camera to replace the old one. The harness I still kept.
After I replaced the camera which I just loosely wired outside the car just to test it before I do the final wiring in the car the camera worked fine. I switched it on and off multiple times and it worked every time.
Then I started to wire everything nicely in the car. Checked a few times as I went along. Worked fine in the beginning. Then as I completely finished wiring everything neatly I checked again and again I got a black screen.
I started moving the wires around and the screen came back. For whatever reason the wires are very sensitive where it’s located I guess. I found as long as it’s not too close to the battery or other wiring it works. I zip tied it in place where the camera was working and haven’t had an issue in a month now

Ran into an issue recently with my anytime camera. It worked great for a couple of months but now I only get back up view when selecting front or back camera. I’m thinking a wire is loose but not sure which one would cause only back up camera? I don’t feel like taking everything apart just yet. Does anyone have a suggest which wire I should check first?

This camera mod worked great for a little over a year and like others in this thread, my backup sporadically goes out, or gets dim, or flickers to the point it’s unusable. I’ve quadruple checked the wiring, the ground, and everything else. Front camera is fine, no issues ever. Rear is the problem. I’m to the point of wanting to just take the whole mod out and be done with it.

    Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue that sounds like it may be related to the Anytime kit. My brake lights are intermittently going out. Ive tried replacing bulbs but thats not it. Even while i have them disassembled they will sporadically work sometimes and stop working sometimes. Seems like a ground issue to me but hard to diagnose since it’s intermittent. Im thinking of wiring everything back to stock to see if it goes away. Do you think it could be related to the Anytime? Any ideas how to diagnose?

OK....A LONG time later and I just took forever to install this and now the rear cam is a black screen when in reverse or rear selected, the front cam works anytime.

I'm kind of burnt, long day and crazy hot weather here....any ideas?

I reached out to R4T, calls went to a full vm box and took three email for them to reply to contact the maker of the product who's also ghosting.
I'm just worried that the problem might be the harness, I'd rather replace them before messing with them.

I'll never buy anything from runnin4tacos again.

Guess I'll check the voltages at the relay and switch per the other posts and see what's up.

My 2016 is now doing this after getting back from shop. I did everything suggested. Even if I remove the wire harness my back up camera is black
