regardless of other's opinions; it sounds to me, that you don't like it and it's not a good fit, so probably best to keep searching or buy a full size.

I’m 5’ 10” and I have to slide in with my right leg a bit contorted to clear the wheel. It was difficult at first, but I’ve developed a routine. Once I’m in the truck, it’s very comfortable. I have a sunroof in my Taco.

It’s just one of the small quirks there is with owning a Tacoma. Sure, a Ford or Chevy are easier to get into - but who would want one of those?

I am 6' and 145, truck lifted 4 inches and I have back problems. Sometimes it's a struggle to get in and out of the truck. Like squeezing yourself through a tennis racket (look up contortionist), but once in I am ok. I find the seats very uncomfortable as does my wife. I have lifted the the driver seat on the rear bolts. It's better, but not perfect. Nothing is perfect anymore. Buy what you need and what is comfortable if you drive a lot.

    5' 10", and not 175lbs.

I racked my knee on the dash a significant number of times when I first started driving my truck. A little bit of time developing a routine that worked and now its second nature.

I agree that the Taco is small and not as easy to get in and out of as other vehicles. That said, once I built a routine I find the truck comfortable to be in regardless of how long the drive is.

    My entry routine (5’10”, 180)

Right (or left) hand on grab handle, right leg in, slide ass onto seat. Oh yeah, tilt head to left, (doorframe).

That infamous grab handle is good for more just a place to stick my left hand while driving around.

I do both methods, head first or head last. Both work.

I'm a big hoss. If I can climb into a compact hatchback without issue, then the Tacoma isn't a problem. It might be small quarters for a truck, but it isn't small.

    I am 5'10 and....yeah sure I'm 175 :spy: (230 right now, working on that....)

I came from a Mazda 3 sedan. I, counter to your point, moved in and it felt like I had the Taj Mahal for space compared to the old Mazda I traded in.

    205 ish.
i cant say that i have ever had an issue.
I have driven small vehicles most of my life, so i guess i am used to being in a smaller cabin.
Buddy has a full size Chevy, and when i get in that i feel like im in a living room.

    6-1 - 195# here.
Clearance for offroad requires a high 'floor'. This should not surprise anyone.
Aerodynamics require a lower height. AND design aesthetics / proportionality also come into play... (The Taco does look quite good!).

I would not like the 'picnic table' style (upright - knees at 90 degrees) sitting position that some seem to look for . And I do not mind the Tacos sitting position at all (drove 1500 miles for spring break and the taco is surprisingly comfy to drive for long periods - including off-road.

I do find it awkward to get in the thing... almost too high to get the butt on the seat from the ground , but I manage... sometimes I'll climb up on the slider - and then I am waaaay up there, but then I slide into the seat from 'above'...

Awkward... but Once I am in - I'm great (sunroof and all).

This is one of the largest vehicles I've ever owned... but the cabin is snug. Some sportscars are more of a glove fit. I recall some where my legs were straight to the pedals - with the seat maybe an inch off the floor... more of a lounge chair.

BUT You adapt to the vehicle being used in each application...

I find it hard to imagine a physical issue with the OPs general dimensions.

    - Is the issue perhps a 'habit' and more of perception? This is real as the Taco is smaller than the Tundra - at least most days...

    Is there room for adaptation?

    If not, I'd look elsewhere...

Maybe look for the guys that built that desert tent for Bugs bunny... where the tiny tent in the desert has palatial dimensions once you step inside...

    Anyone remember that one?

Moving up from a Mazda 3 or a Corolla, it is big. Moving down from Tundra, it is tiny.

But I have enough issues learning to maneuver a Tacoma, so a Tundra would need "A-Team"-class armor for the demolition derby that would result.
