I sent an email last night and @CaliRaisedLed also sent me a link to the support page again. I filled it out and attached 4 photos.
Thanks for the v1 vs v2.1 photos. It does appear that the v1 was further away from the U-joint. However it also looks like your v2.1 is further away from the U-joint than what I and others have encountered. Wonder if we have v2.0? I'm looking forward to a response, but if they just ship another set, it'll be interesting to see if there's a marked difference. Not doing any off roading between now and then so I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Part of me wishes that I had gone with one of the other options from another company now, but most were a good $100 to $200 more. (No telling if other companies had any issues.) I have been very impressed with @CaliRaisedLed's immediate support though. I think once this new twist in the saga is addressed we should have some very nice shields.

Good news is... my cats are still intact!

The clearance as is a little bit more than 1/2". This on a SR5 TE Edition.

I did put the truck on 4X4 and did not hear any noises. It won't be until I take it out off roading, so for now just like everyone else waiting to see if CaliRaised will offer another solution. The V2.1 were easier to install than the V2. Also other than adding the washers they provided, everything else is OEM.

Interesting. I've no idea if I received the v2 or v2.1. Although it was tight getting everything lined up mine did fit okay (with the exception of the U-joint clearance concern). Can't recall, did your v2 not fit at all or... ? Just curious what made it easier to install. TIA!

So you didn't use the spacers on the V2.1 or longer crossmember bolts? Sorry if this was mentioned already but it's difficult to keep track of what each member has done and what they have.

I'm also curious which versions work with which model. Lots of variance with each version working for some but not others.

The v2/v2.1 attach to the "rear" of the transmission crossmember rather than the "front", so per the install video, they do not use spacers. If you were to put spacers in there the opening where the security bolts attach (end of the crossbar) would not line up.

I and others used the OEM transmission crossmember bolts. The ones supplied are similar but use washers. The OEM bolts already have collars. Using either wouldn't change the position of the shields.

Did you happen to take side-by-side (v2 vs v2.1) pictures of the driver's side shield? Wondering if we you can tell the difference, if there is any.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...2016-2022-tacoma.784146/page-47#post-28595639

Found these and you can certainly see the difference in the transmission mount angle. Did the v2 not fit at all? Guessing the security bolt cutout would have been misaligned.

Probably going down an unecessary rabbit hole at this point, but just trying to figure out the whole U-joint clearance question.

    TIA!

V1 attached at the rear, V2/2.1 at the front.

The original V2 install video had a spacer at the crossmember bolts between the crossmember and shield and was supplied with longer crossmember bolts.I see Cali has deleted that video now probably why everyone's V2.V2.1 is coming with the original V1 hardware.

Haven't seen anything indicating that there's a model difference other than 4x4 vs 2WD or V6 vs 4 cylinder. @CaliRaisedLed acknowledged there was a slight difference in exhaust position on some 4x4s is all and why they decided to create a v2. Some of the initial v2s they sent out weren't fabricated correctly, but they caught that early on and started sending v2.1. Hope that helps.

Yes, however, V1 (4x4) have been installed without any issues on some models but not others. V2/V2.1 same thing.

No spacers and no gold bolts, just the washers.

I was not able to mount the V2 when I got it. So, I reached out to CaliRaised and they stated that there was an issue with the bends. Received V2.1 no hardware other than security bolts and the black rubber cushions. I kept the hardware of the V2 and only used the washers.

Based on that, I must have received v2.1 since I only received security bolts, washers and rubber spacers with my shields. Damn! I was hoping I got v2 and v2.1 would be the clearance fix.

My understanding is that the only issues we were having with the V1"s was they were in contact with the catalytic itself making noise and caution about overheating.

Ended up checking underneath today and o noticed the shield is really close to the driveshaft and I hit a dip today and I heard it scrape so I might just try to bend it or cut it like everyone else. Is it worth emailing caliraised about it?

Correct on V1 due to rattles and/or the shield touching the cat on some trucks, but not others and why they came up with V2. But now a whole new issue that apparently didn't exist with v1. It's always something.

The V2’s didn’t aligned even though I tried every scenario that everyone put here. So when I reached out to CaliRaised they indicated it was a defect on the bends, so they send the V2.1 which were easier everything align.
