I'd love keep it one large group but smaller groups are probably more realistic. Who all knows the route or do you have some GPS tracks you can share?

We for sure have to get a group pic!

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
I'm with the majority, staggered smaller groups. And just looking for an answer to Supr4Lo's question.

I can't even remember where I get the GPX file from. Hopefully somebody else has a better idea. If I recall correctly, I just googled it until I finally found a link that worked.

As far as the group pic; maybe we could make that boat ramp the place where we all regroup. :notsure:

So, for those who are getting there Friday-is there an afternoon outing planned? Are we going to go find a water crossing or something that might could should require some winching? Legendary tales are not created sitting in camp ya know... I have a locker that needs to be tested.

I’m not aware of anything at this point. It looks like people will be streaming in all afternoon.

    Couple things:

I took the GPS routes from that dropbox link and removed the waypoints and junk. See attached for the simplified route GPX file. Don't hate on me if it's wrong, I didn't make it and you get what you paid for.

@Thatbassguy - for saturday it looks like the Lansing -> Wyalusing section is only about 50 miles. Seems like we will go through there pretty quick, is this a more challenging section? Just curious.

For sunday hiking if anyone is interested we will probably have to play it by ear, especially if rain is in the forecast. Trails are usually muddy sloppy messes this time of year, and with the warm weather it could be a mosquito-filled death march. Ideally we'd do the Sand Cave loop, or modify it to be shorter (2 miles vs like 2.4 miles) as shown in the link below. Waterfalls aren't anything spectacular but still fun to see the large sandstone cave/overhangs. Sugar Maple Trail is another similar trail.

    https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/wisconsin/sand-cave-trail--3

I'm considering running the southern-most TWAT section on sunday for the ride home, but I'm curious if this is even a wise idea. Anyone that can share what that section is like? Obviously I don't expect you to be psychic on specific trail conditions, but if someone says "yeah lots of sand and mud" I'll probably not do it solo jut to be smart. We can BS about this at camp too.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of milage. Last year with stops and BSing it was an all day affair. I must add it was a great time!

Hmm fair enough, I could see that too. Just curious because we drove like 115 miles on the ice skating rink in February so doing 50 miles in 70 degree spring weather seems like a short day. Guess we will have to pose for the 'Gram and have photo shoots?

We also crossed over into Iowa if I remember right. So some miles off the TWAT also. @Thatbassguy can give better info. Last year was my first run and I'm old and my memory sucks.

You got dem 33's on yet?

No 33's yet. Taking welding courses starting in summer which means hopefully I can do my own CMC later but I want to be 100% sure I can do quality work first. I'm debating putting them on the Jeep instead. And here comes the hate in 3, 2, 1... :crapstorm:

Lots of other reasons too, none of them good in the eyes of TW lol.

If you're going to do a CMC, you might as well just go straight to 35's...

I'm committed to a max of 33's for the forseeable future since it's my DD. Give it a couple years, that might change.

I had originally thought about trying to do some exploring on Friday. It sounds like people are going to be arriving at all different times throughout the day so I'm going to probably hang out and greet people. That's not to say that others can't go fool around and have some fun. I don't know of anything in the area that's challenging at all. There is that road (Hay Road near Avoca)with the water crossing, but it is an hour from camp and it'd be better off to hit that on the way in.

We usually start at Mt. Hosmer Park in Lansing, which has a pretty fantastic view, so we usually hang out there briefly. There are also a couple of usual stops along the way for pictures, but as @Supr4Lo mentioned, those stops always turn into BS sessions. With the amount of people, we might have to minimize the stops.

We also usually take the trail down to Potosi, which is quite a bit further than Wyalusing, and stop at the Potosi recreational area for pictures before going to dinner (which we're doing back at camp this year). I'm sure we could get a little further if we went until dark, but I would like to be back at camp a little before dark.

I seem to recall a few roads on the farthest south section of the trans Wiscosin being a little bit sloppy the one time I actually did that. But, I suppose that will depend on how much rain we actually get.

I'm still on board with the hike, provided it is not too much of a muddy mess. I can handle a little bit of rain, but if it's a downpour I'll probably be out.

Also, depending on how that all goes, I was considering getting lunch at Potosi on Sunday if the timing is decent.

Also, @wi_taco , I might be down for a run of the last of the trail down to the border Sunday. Also. I guess we have several options to choose from, so we can talk more about that at camp

I do have a gpx file but following someone from Illinois will definitely get us lost. I was planning on doing the TWAT south to the boarder on Sunday.
