Did the 2.5 conversion but still putting on the final touches. Like a dummy I bought an aftermarket hood and I'm having a hell of a time making it fit properly. It's decent right now except that there are large gaps between the headlights and the hood. My mechanic friend says that the 2.5 latch probably sits slightly lower which would drop the hood down a bit, making it fit better. Any truth to this? I have a feeling the latches are the exact same dimensions, just that the 2.5 has the extra little bar to open the hood.

You might get more attention in the proper forum. If not, if no one mentions replacing hood latches in any "2.5 front end swap" threads then they should be the same, or everyone would have that same issue

D'oh, I thought I posted in the 2nd Gen forum. But yeah, that was my feeling too, that nobody really mentions it.

@Squatting Pigeon can you move this to the 2nd gen forum? Don’t think OP will get much help here.

@007fodo what was the problem that you're having?

I do recall some issue with the hood latch support. I didnt bother to look deeper after my Gen2.5 was completed because whatever issue wasnt a show stopper.

I thought maybe the TRD blower fit kit came with a different hood latch support.... so I used my original latch support and built a small bracket extension for the bumper supports.

Update: it got me looking now and yes, the trd blower fit kit comes with a new latch support and required mods to the lock release lever protector. So I'm not surprised now that the part # listed/ordered in the links above did not workout for me. @nudavinci64

It's not the latch. I have the original 2010 latch still installed with my 2.5gen front end conversion. Did you get all the correct headlight clips and brackets? I skipped a lot of things and it looks perfect. [IMG]

Latch is very similar between the two, so it's probably not the latch.

I got everything correct and OEM aside from the hood. I had a strong feeling it wasn't the latch but I don't know what the hell else it could be. Is your hood OEM or aftermarket, and can you post a close-up?

Nice, thanks. I know both latches have the same mounting holes so figured it couldn't be too much different, if at all. I think it's just the aftermarket hood fitment.

Problems a change the little hook latch thing on the hood itself? If so, what would it be called?

This is aligned properly. You are missing the rubber headlight filler strips. Take a look at another 2.5g between the headlight and hood.

Also, a lot of my parts were aftermarket but OEM equivalent. Hood, headlights, and grille were aftermarket.
