Miller, cat guard, or caliraised...None of the above? I put a Toran's Precision Fabrication Inc (TPFI) cat shield on mine. 1/8" aluminum. No drilling. Veteran owned. US made. Works with the TRD skidplate.

    No complaints.

Cats are stolen all the time it's been happening since before I ever had a Tacoma. I park where it's unlikely to happen. Sure it could still happen, and other people park where it's likely to happen. I would not discourage anyone from using a cat shield. I'm just on the side of not thinking I need one.

    Edit

I've seen people driving around parking lots at stores that seemed rather the suspicious, and my first thought is they are probably casing easy vehicles to target for convertor theft.

I don't go back to those stores, there's usually enough going on at those locations to discourage shopping there to begin with.

Just wait, “the hood” is coming to the burbs, on the hunt for the cats on those $50k lifted Tacos and Tundras…..

plenty of Ring videos on YouTube to watch…….

$1000 cat or $280 for a cat guard setup……….like the old car parts commercial used to say…….”you can pay me now or pay me later”

That was my reasoning. Not only is it the $1000+ for the cat, but there's the damage the thief cause getting the cat, and the possible raise in your insurance rates. Not to mention being without your ride while it gets repaired.

I went with MillerCat stainless. Stainless is definitely harder to cut through by mechanical means. It likes to get gummy and ruin blades. It was a pain to get front bolts started but overall less than an hour to install.

Is that how long it took to install, or how it was paid for?? :D

I installed zero deductible comprehensive insurance. It's cheaper than buying some joke of a theft deterrent, and then paying your deductible on top of it when they still get stolen anyway. And then you don't have to worry about getting hit by some lowlife with minimal or no insurance. Solving problems left and right.

Second pic, millercat with trd pro skid plate? No overlapping? I got the millercat shield and wanted to get the trd pro skid plate but was wondering if there would be any overlappiing issues.

So the Miller shield has to be removed to get to the zerk fitting on the back end of the 4WD propeller shaft?

Just the one wing of the shield on the driver side. Wouldn't need to remove the whole thing. It would be about a half dozen screws and you're in.

have you done this? it would be better than removing the whole thing but when i installed it did not look like that would work.
hoping you know rather than me crawling under there to find out :)

To be honest, I don't know for sure. I don't have the front drive shaft grease fitting. But, with the side wing of the Miller shied removed, you have access to the front drive shaft.

i guess we'll have to wait for someone to try it. i think it will be hard to get the wing out and in again. i have not tried it yet.
i grease from the other side of the propeller so i don't even know if i can get to the zerks from the wing side, especially with the rest of the shield in place.
