This thread needs some pics! Went to Vegas and happened by this place called Flight Club. It's all about darts and food. Right up mine and the Mrs. alley. Highly recommended if you like darts and food. Had the Pork Belly Bao Buns.

Pineapple in a veggie roasting pan over real coals, or ok gas. Better than AF or oven.

So good.

 

“Air Fryer” is the fancy term for a countertop mediocre version of a convection oven.
The technology has been there since the 70s, but lost favor except in commercial kitchens, where it’s remained essential.

 

Never thought of it that way...makes sense

 

My mediocre air fryer beats the crap out of the two convection ovens I've had.

And it doesn't heat up the house.

 

Consumer convection ovens suck. They kinda do a meh job just to say they can do it.

You can get one that will show your air fryer the door, but it's $$$$$$$$. +1 consumer oven that won't die, and an air fryer combo is way cheaper than a convection oven worth a damn.

 

Whatever, call it what you want, they are the same principle. My brother said the same. Then he saw our good AF in action. He loves the thing.

Yes there are some real craptastic plastic AF's out there for sure. But a good stainless one is miles ahead of those 1980's slow blow convection ovens.

Just don't act "better than thou" either way. It's a frigging tool. Use it or not.
