Fuse Box Tap

OK. 2015 Tacoma.

I'd like tap one of these fuses that will go to 12V+ only when the ignition is on.

Can someone help me out? Thanks.

 

There are no switched ignition fuses in the underhood fuse box, you can use the light green wire on connector EB1 if you just need a ignition trigger for a relay. It's powered by the IG1 no 2 fuse in the interior fuse box and feeds ignition power to the alternator, would not add more than a 3A fuse to that circuit though. It would be perfect to turn a relay on and off with the ignition though.

 

Need it be under the hood? The ACC fuse under the dash works

to the OP im sure someone told you or you saw a post about a 12v lead that is ignition on only that is a lie if there is both me and a friend never found one. with a power probe.

I want to power a front camera and I want a power source that is only hot when the truck is running.

 

What kind of camera? Anytime front camera? You are already punching the firewall with your feed cable, it would take no effort to run two cables instead of one. Heck, run a speed wire with however many cores you need (power, signal, ground, etc)- that will keep it neat.

 

I already have too many cables punching through the firewall as it is. Plus, at my age I have mobility problems and have great difficulting contorting myself to get under the dash and try to pull wires.

I would much rather find a connection under the hood.

A lot of cameras run a power wire embedded with the signal wire to splice into the switched power for the headunit. Are you sure yours is not this way?

well okay this is the odd one out. just assumed they needed a quick drop in, that doesn't involve tapping into connectors, I'm a firm believer in being able to remove before selling if I can.

That's why I have the info on parts & assembly of an intercept harness...
@kmorgan3 assembles a harness (my design) meant to tap the dash rheostat that uses the same connectors, but he has stop providing it due to lack of interest.
