How can you live and not have debt. Are you going to buy a $50K truck in cash? What about a house or college? That’s pretty much impossible unless you were born a trust fund baby.

If you have no self control or cannot use a credit card properly, they that is on the person using it.

I use a credit card just like a debit card, I use it to pay for everything I would buy normally with my debit card, all that money sits in the bank or under the mattress.

At the end of the billing cycle I send the credit card company what I spent that billing cycle, then I start it all over again. Once or twice a year I use the points that are earned on the credit card from making normal purchases that everyone else makes every day, to fly to Europe or the Caribbean. So its kinda like a passive savings, for spending money that I was going to spend anyway, only it didn't cost me anything, not one penny of interest.

I use the same credit card when I am in Europe or South America to securely spend without putting my actual bank account at risk, after I return from the vacation, usually right after getting home from the airport, I send the credit card company the total of what I spent on vacation as if I was using my debit card or cash for the vacation...and bonus...all those amounts rack up points to pay for the next airline tickets saving that portion of the trip, by doing it this way, transactions are secure and risk free, and I can take more vacations further away with more expensive flights.

In no way is that like a casino....but I can see how some that are unable to discipline themselves to use it to their benefit could feel that way, and yes. there are plenty of those suckers out there that rack up totals they can't pay and credit card companies make a fortune on them. I will keep letting them pay for my vacations as those suckers are the ones that push the better and better points programs.

It's possible the ARB rear bumper is a half wrap with BSM built into the sides with a plastic cover like the Tundra Trailhunter:

NOT having a Credit Car is just plain retarded. Most people do pay off their CC's every month, and if they do carry over a balance, they carry it over responsibly and at low interest rates. You can't count on the Federal Reserve CC numbers because I am sure more than 80% of that is revolving credit. Most people will consolidate their debt when they find out they can't get their CC balance down, and these Consolidated debts are NOT in the CCs numbers.

You get miles/points when using CC so there is that. CC also has special fixed interest rates as low as 5% until balance is paid off; and then there are the NO INTEREST for 18 months (only 3% fees).

In addition, ATMs transactions are NOT protected while a CC transaction is!

Everyone should have at least $15k of CC debt at any one time (at low interest of course), this keeps our accounts active and allows our limits stay high or go higher. Even if you do pay it off, you should rack it back up, as this will get your limit higher. Having easy access to funds for can't miss deals, or emergencies, is a GREAT thing! Having Easy access to liquid cash via CC is better than a Home Equity Line of Credit.

In addition, having Debt is really the only Hedge we have to protect ourselves from Inflation. Think of it this way, the $10k I spent 5 years ago on Goods is most likely worth $15k now for the same Goods. Real Inflation is about above 10% right now, so if you can borrow money for only 3-5% you are making out! and like I said, even if we do pay down our debt, we should always think about racking it back up (for home improvements or to spoil ourselves). Think if you used that $15k to put a down payment on say a $300k house, well in some Markets, that $300k house is now worth $600k! Think if you used that $15k for a down payment on a Tacoma, well a new Tacoma now is like 30% more now than a Tacoma 5 years ago.

The only really way to make easy money is by owing a lot of money. Of course you have to spend responsibility, like on work expense stuff, the home, or Real Estate; Using Debt to Build Equity is the key to wealth. As soon as we have Equity and Assets, we should always think about borrowing against it to buy more Real Estate. I have found over the long term, Real Estate is really the only way to get rich in a fairly short time (5-15 years).

Of course, you always want to buy stuff when the Economy Crashes. Cars and Real Estate is the best time to buy after the Economy CRASHES. Economic Crashes happens about once every 7 years so we can time the. However, this last crash we had was 15 years ago (2008)! We are long due for a crash. I have a feeling the next CRASH will be a very BIG ONE and there will be a FIRESALE on everyting. It is good to buy during Crashes because not only is everything is cheaper, but also interest rates or low.

I thought I needed a truck bad, but after not owning a truck for 4 months I am actually still OK. I think I am going to wait another year, wait for when Economy Crashes and the Fire Sale of Vehicles occur, I know I will be able to pick up a nice Souped up Lifted 4x4 at an extreme discount. Also might also get me another house while I am at it.

I wouldn't call 300K in the Pacific Northwest or West coast rich, that pretty much has the buying power that 100-150K does in most of the rest of the country. It's all relative. There are many places in the world you can move and be "rich" if you want and not have to earn any more than you do right now, its all relative.

For an adult is bad to not have a credit card. As a young adult, it’s smart. Young adults are often the ones that learn the hard lessons and have to claw out from excessive debt and ruined credit.

Dude, you’re the one getting your knickers in a twist and commenting on people that are financially stable, I’m just telling you to chill.
This is a 4th gen thread, people are going to spend money on a brand new truck. A lot of those people will pay cash…

WRONG. Having a CC for a young adult is the best for him. Let him get in a little debt problem so he can learn to bail himself out. In time, he will be able to figure it all out. The SOONER WE LEARN the BETTER!

I read through this. Your thought process on how to use a credit card effectively is so out of touch with reality.

You can take advantage of the points/cash back system of credit cards by having a zero balance by the end of each cycle regardless of how much you make. It's literally the same thought process on "don't spend what you don't have".

Tacoma owners and Tacoma Fans talking about Finances. You know how it is, one thing leads to another and we all just go with the flow. Then there are those who get angry when we go from dot to dot to dot.

If you want me to connect the dots for you, the "base dot" is the High Prices of the Gen4 Tacomas, then the next dot is about financing it, then the next dot is CCs and how to use them, etc, etc, etc.

Hmm. Like those kids that want their student debt paid by tax dollar money? lol

Idk who “he” is… but yes, responsibility, maturity, wisdom, and in todays age, basic knowledge comes with time…and it’s not always 20 years old. That said I’ve seen more people dig themselves a hole then dig themselves out of one.

Who cares!, you spend your money any way you want. If you make 300k or 100K it doesn't matter , is not only how much you make is also how much you spend as well and how smart you are with your money.

Again, everyone is going to differ in the way they do their finances. Live and let live.

Now going back to the TRUE subject of this forum, by how much do you guys estimate the 4th gen will go up?
