    He never mentioned a stall test, and to be honest I just had to google what that is. This is my first truck so i'm still learning new things every day! Sounds like that would have been great test to perform. I can call when they open tomorrow and ask if they did.

    CB has not been replaced yet. I had not considered that! Any way to test that??

    I cleared that P0171 the other day and it hasn't come back. I had a p0172 for about a week when I first bought her.

    I've checked fluids at cold, but never did the gear-box procedure. Also checked when hot but never after checking cold. I'm going to go out now and step through to confirm. But shop also never mentioned anything about fluid levels.

    What I love about TW is we almost always learn something new everyday lol.

    The shifting through gears I mentioned isn't necessary to check fluid level but I do it out of habit (its done when replacing the fluid).

    Can check your CB by crawling under the truck and grasping the driveshaft with both hands. if you have this much movement, yeah its time to replace it.

    You mentioned @gearcruncher (awesome dude!), @Tacojoe68 be sure to check over the docs he was cool enough to attach to his transmission post (way at the bottom of the post). A treasure trove of info there. There is an A340 series repair doc which has everything you would need to step through the removal process.

    So just checked fluid and I must have been smoking something when I checked before because it seems way overfilled! Now I’m not sure if I would say it’s cold (drove it about 6 hours ago) but it’s about an inch above the hot mark. Going to get it up to temp and see what it says.

    Also, CB does have a really good bit of play in it! Going to looking into taking care of that. I swear if that fixes it and they were about to charge me 5000…. Lol

    So I just got back from a few laps. Levels look good in the hot range. But yea its kinda weird how high it was when "cool". Definitely dropping the pan and doing a refill.

    No need to pull the pan, drain plug it. Will need/should replace the crush washer.

    True, I could just do the drain plug. I'm really curious what the magnets look like though...I feel like clean magnets would make an even better case for the TC being the culprit...

    When I pulled the pan on the 4Runner trans, the magnets did have particles - very fine though so cleaned em up, cleaned the pan and FIPG'd that thing back into place.

    :fingerscrossed: you don't find any chunks

    OME and worth every penny.
    If it comes down to you really needing work done on the trans, I'd get it out of there myself if able. He's rogering you for that. A TC at the trans parts house is a few hundred bucks.

    SC with 7th injector. ICON 2.5 shocks and coil overs, SPC UCA, EMU Dakar rear springs. FrontRunner bed rack. ICOM IC7100 amateur transceiver
    I recently had my A340F rebuilt. It had engine RPM dependent whine (not vehicle speed dependent).
    The shop said the sound was likely a worn transmission oil pump. They shimmed it along with a new torque converter, rebuild kit and a Sonnax Zip Kit.
    The whine is gone and the transmission shifts with less abruptness.
